to research the best pony, we must look at each pony, and consider their overall rating, I.E. if all the best episodes are considered twilight episodes because twilight is the main influence in the episode, then twilight would be considered the best, and most developed character.
this leaves room for fault as it could be the supports that make the episode and not the main character.
plus some main characters could have more episodes than others. so we must turn to an isolated, set of episodes chosen at random, all with a certain ammount of episodes dedicated to each main character.
this can easialy determine, statistically, the best written character.
then we move on to sexiest character.
so for that is simple, we reach out to multiple smut sites (derpibooru, r34, otherwise) and we see which character tags are the most prevolent, that would proove to be the most sexiest character.
also, no EQG, this is best pony, people; and movies would totally sqrew our scientific research.
