You know I kind of like the one shot stories over the more adventurey ones.
Reflections has left a bitter taste.

FF is pretty good. It has less stinkers than the mane comics do.
That being said, I enjoyed the siege of the crystal empire and the Pirate arc. And the nightmare rarity arc.

I think the biggest problem with the adventure arcs in the main series is that 4 issues is not enough for complex stories. There is no excusing Reflections, though.
I have high hopes but not high expectations for Ponies of Dark Waters.

I don't know, with well established characters already you can make amazing stories in 4 or 5 issues. Look at X-Statix most arcs lasted 4 to 5 issues and they did a lot of amazing stories with depth, interesting villains and complex social and philosophical issues being brought up and discussed. Obviously that last part doesn't have much place in MLP books but the length isn't the issue when you don't have to establish your main character, setting or rules.

The problem with the upcoming comic is that, honestly, the mane six turning evil isn't a threat to equestria.
The mane six, besides twilight, are small shit, as far as power levels go; Its like having all the non-saiyans turn evil in DBZ, who gives a fuck?
The mane six turning evil would be bad in that the EOH kind of only seem to respond to them, but past that celestia and luna and the Royal guard would shit stomp them all.
Dash, while initially in S1 seeming to be God tier has been subsequently nerfed and retconned to not being any better than the other wonderbolts, and theres an entire TEAM of them.

Rarity is a fashion designer. There is literally no way she should concievably be more than a speedbump to the royal guard, celestia, or shining armor, ect.
Pinkie is a party planner, nothing to note there.
fluttershy has her stare, but that's honestly not really that much given how its pretty much failed every time its used after S1.
There's discord, but that's not really "Her" as a threat, its "discord is a threat".

See, this is the main problem with MLP comic art. The artists are certainly capable of drawing
beautifully like Andy did with >>27582753 , but most of the issues are consistently ruined by a fucking colorist that can't be arsed to do something other than abusing harsh shadows and lazily applied blur tool.

Well, the alicorns can all get super stronger than Discord by Funneling all their magic into one of them according to Twilight's kingdom (Twilight was equal to tirek after he ate Discord AND all the other ponies in equestria)
But nah, Discord is the strongest God mode sue in the universe at this point.
Which makes him not fixing all the problems with villains generally come across as him being a dick. (Like in the comics, he basically got yelled at by Fluttershy to defeat the umbrum, was like "Fuck off bitch, here's some giant animals" and left when it seemed like he could have solved the entire problem with a snap of his fingers given how weak the umbrum turned out to be)
