Here's a question:
How would you go about protecting your princess? Less importantly, what would your relationship be like with them?

I have no idea about medieval combat, but I like the idea of a halberd as my weapon, with some kind of medium armor, like leather + chain mail, as a balance between protection and maneuverability. Cold nights watching over Luna, so hopefully I can get a shirt or cloak with magic to keep me warm. I can't imagine much attacking Luna physically. It would most likely just be nightmares, which I could hopefully fend off long enough for her to do her thing. Maybe assassins are a thread, but hell, maybe a talisman of night vision for that?
Luna seems the type to take a long time for her to warm up to you being more than a guard. Maybe after many long nights of conversation, and some jolly cooperation in battles, we would one day be best friends, and neither will be able to tell when it began and how we got here.

Heavy armor, greatshield and greatsword; all of them made of dark metal, to follow the night motiff.
I always liked to be a Paladin, a Protector, a Centurion, slow but strong, a walking tank.
I'd take a squad of ponies with me, they would be more lighter armored, with bows, light/medium armor and swords.
Given anybody with half of a functionating brain WON'T get closer to a mediaval walking tank, I can just stay infront, in the middle of the battlefield and take all the punishment, while my squad of loyal equestrian Squires does the attacking role.
I'd be also the team captain, ordering different kind of formations as the battle progresses (I'm a big fan of Roman formations)

I imagine if I got a magic item it would be a set of cuff links I could use to amplify one spell to the level of someone with a cutie mark in it, and I'd probably use that for a shield spell, don't really need much else, provided I don't age. Otherwise, after years of service, I will request that Luna cast an aging spell on me, restoring me to my prime so that I may serve her forever.
