Welp, I'm worried. They're obviously pretending to make this movie something BIG. And that's good. But you can't make a "big" movie and pretend people is going to watch more than 100 episodes to watch it. So they're going to make the movie as unrelated to the show as they can, so people can watch it even if they hadn't watched the show. And that's... not so good, at least for me.
I honestly don't know what to expect, even if it's a great movie it wouldn't be a movie about "our" MLP. And that's kinda sad.

When a film studio brings a film to a sales slate, that means they’re effectively selling the rights to continue the production and distribution of the film. In this case, since it’s being done at a film festival and not a corporate boardroom, they probably have some portion of it (i.e., the script, concept artwork, maybe some animatics) to show off in front of a larger audience and not just some projected numbers about how they are doing.
Basically, Lionsgate is no longer interested in doing this alone and wants to see who else is interested in helping with the movie.

Nono, I would LOVE to see Taye and Liev play big roles in the movie. It's just confusing to me that they chose these particular actors for a My Little Pony movie. Taye has been on a fuckton of cop drama shows, and Liev tends to be in movies with a heavy plotline or gorey action.
At least John de Lancie's most popular role was Q from Star Trek, a show that was mostly light-hearted action.
