I think part of the reason Nowacking became "the" voice is because:
1. She used it in a lot of high quality productions (Epic Wub Time comes to mind)
2. It feels more in line with what people "expect" Vinyl to sound like. Nowadays the number of folks in the fandom who'd imagine a raver DJ pony to have a high pitched voice is probably a minority (I have nothing to back this up of course).
3. She's a well known VA outside of the fandom which helps give her some cred.
But still, to kind of go back on what the original post said, it's kind of fun to imagine a world where someone else became the de facto fan voice, or if there was none to begin with.This is, after all, more or less the reason Hasbro won't let her talk in the show. They're afraid of pissing people off with the "wrong" voice.

How do people put these kind of OC's against ponies in the actual show and not realize how out of place they look?
I mean, Vinyl is unarguably one of the most extreme designs in the show, and she looks normal compared to that monstrosity.

Yea, I know, she's borderline. It's great. It probably has something to do with the fact that she was never meant for more than a seven second cameo so they were free to do whatever they want.
But then again, you could say the same about Octavia, who was in the same boat.
The only other ponies I can think of with a similarly crazy design is that black and yellow one who was a literal OC and Thunderlane, and even he got a recolour once.

To be fair, while I do like the notion of her making more visible appearances, I also don't think she should spend too much time in the spotlight. I'm part of the appropriate crowd. Only bring her out if she has an in-canon reason to be there. Things like the Season 2 ending or her original appearance. I'm not a big fan of having another Slice of Life where she has her own adventure, but I can personally why some people would like that again. I find it much more realistic and enjoyable if it seems like she has a life outside of the Mane 6 and mainly just does her own thing; only showing up when their paths cross by coincidence.
