The DK1 displayed stuff like on OP's pic.
The DK2 had a mode where nothing would show on the screen, but that was a fucking mess and got removed.
Now, the main screen produce a nice, non-deformed, non-doubled version of what the Oculus display so people not wearing the headset can follow what happen.
