They still are.
Parody videos are what killed the fandom. They brought only redditors, tumblrinas, useless youtube viewers with bad taste and unlikable teens with no social skills.
Plus they also killed the show too. Some idiot at Hasbro or DHX saw that we enjoy said parody videos and he thought he can be just as funny as us.
Now the current show is an unfunny abridged parody full of autistic drugged asshole characters and horrible stories.
Same for the IDW comics. Especially the latest one with Twilight and Spike.

Let's rephrase that.
Parody videos are what killed the fandom. By representing and painting MLP as a: meme, parody material, ironic joke. They attracted only annoying children who thought MLP was suppose to be a dumb ironic meme since the start.
As such you got fans who were never really fans of the show, they were fans of the parody content, including the porn, including anon in equestria, cyoa, greentext etc.
Even the ones who hate on Twilycorn are confused as hell. They don't know what the show was suppose to be. They don't know how bad their taste is.

The fandom is already dead. New episodes of Teen Titans GO has movre views than MLP. Since Hasbro only care about toy commercial, they will pull the plug out of FiM and only focus on making Equestria girls and possibly, Pony Movies every year. But tv show is no longer neccessary maintain the hype for ponies, since there is none.
