I like her, her backstory is a nice contrast to Twilight's, she's cute, and she's one of the few legit good things from EqG. Her initial reformation is kinda shit though, but it at least it wasn't as bad as Glimmer's

I like Sunset Shimmer. Sort of. As a concept rather than a character.

She makes an excellent foil for Twilight, in the same way Lightning Dust does for Rainbow Dash. They similar backgrounds and motivations, but Sunset has allowed ambition to overrule her better judgement. That makes for some interesting ideas. Why does Sunset desire power so much? What does she plan to do once she wins? Other villains are pretty straightforward.

But Sunset? No idea. Why did she leave Celestia's tutelage? Was it a mutual break? Did Celestia end things herself? What is Sunset going to do? Does she desire vengeance, or vindication maybe.
And then those questions were answered in the least satisfying way possible. It really is quite remarkable.
