I found a subculture I could really get behind. It was just so fun. Partly because it was edgy/ironic and made people assblasted so hard, even internet pplz.
But also because it brought me and my 3 best friends together. Hands down the best fandom I've ever been in. The show is good, but fun and cute and well animated. I don't know if I've ever taken a lesson to heart. A lot are cliche. But stuff like amending fences and one where twilight misses out on te weekend can hit home from time to time.

After college, I lost pretty much all my friends and never had a reason to go out anymore. MLP has given me an avenue to make some amazing friends online, and even some new ones out in the world.
At a friend's party, a couple people I'd never met before saw my power level on my watch, and we got to chatting about ponies. They mentioned they were driving out to see Rainbow Rocks in theatres the next day, and that's how I made a half-dozen new friends and watched that movie in theater like a true autist. It was awful, not the movie, but the people in the theater with me, constantly laughing and clapping (god damn it, the clapping), wild cheering at Maud, etc. At one point Aria saying something evil literally caused a retarded kid in the back to have a breakdown and he had to be removed. Seeing the music battle was great on the big screen though.
Anyway, sort of sidetracked, but yeah, ponies have helped me have a slew of people to call my friends and given me a reason to really get out there and live.

As for positives from this fandom? I've seen a lot of artists go from average (or worse), to awesome, just because they're drawing a load of pony pictures. That's probably the biggest impact this show has had. The creativity of the fans.
When I first started watching and for like 2 years afterwards it made me a better person. I was just happier and friendlier. Then I stopped watching and I'm just a fucking bummer again.

I'm confident that a balanced sense of individuality and community could be more efficient than any forms of sociological ideologies, social outlooks and political philosophies that have failed in the past.
