Was I the only one who thought there wasn't as much explosion over this? It was kind of disappointing. There wasn't really that much hype, compared to what we thought it would be like when they did get them.

I think the fact that it was done so naturally and maintained the status quo sort of just made it feel right. It wasn't jarring like Twilight race-change or toyhouse replacement. It was built up, had some in-season hinting, and then allowed them to stay the Cutie Mark Crusaders while opening up some new potential stories with them.
Just not a ton to get upset or over-excited over. It was a good thing that needed to happen at some point, and it's poetic that DT would finally accept them as blank flanks on the day they cease to be blank flanks.
