These kind of games are like racing games, they look good of you only focus on a tiny part of it and not other details, because then you'll see that it doesn't look that good. You're supposed to move around in these games at all times, so you don't notice the lack of detail.

Yeah flight sims tend to have some ugly ground textures, but it doesn't matter too much.
Rise of flight looks blurry as hell on the ground but really good if you fly a few thousand feet up.
War Thunder is amazingly pretty for a flight sim and great fun at first, too bad it's run by a company of monkeys so I won't commit to it.

It's a custom user skin. Usually it only affects the exterior of the plane, but you can get it to swap cockpit textures as well.

It's a complicated process to get the cockpit textures, as they aren't shown in the skin template, but luckily for you I'm uploading a template soon. It will work on all variants of spitfire, including the seafire and griffon spitfires.
