It should have been a continuation from the gala episode. Season 2 should have started right off with Twilight staying in Canterlot and her friends moving in with her. That way we freshen up things by switching from Ponyville to Canterlot.

It was another flanderization and anti-mane6 episode typical of S2 episodes.
Notice how Rarity is relegated to having dialogue with a filthy one-shot secondary character instead of talking to someone truly intelligent like Twilight.
Because Twilight and the rest are busy being flanderized into drug-addicted lsd maniacs on the autism spectrum.
Notice how there's absolutely no shame or regret when they ruin the fancy party compared to the Best Night Ever when they felt terrible about it.
