Still Season 2 for me.

Season 4's finale was choppy and mediocre. Not the rush-job that Magical Mystery Cure was, but still not reaching the same heights as A Canterlot Wedding or The Best Night Ever.

Anon, it was the least crap, most true to the feeling of the season. We saw the ponies living life, rather than doing some shitty ass DBZ fight, ascending to stupidity, nor doing convoluted and overall idiotic time travel crap.

It encapsulated what I watch the show for, even if it was a bit dry, it was far better than the over dramatic, forced action stuff they pull now.

At the Gala is pretty much the perfect surmizing of what I love about S1/2, brings me nostalgia, joy, and sadness when I listen back and remember first seeing the ep.
