What I'd like to see is for them to buy the rights off some of the top rated fimfics and make those into multi-episode arcs.
Generally, just longer arcs. You really can't fit anything good into 21 minutes. Hence why the resolution at the end of most episodes is always so fucking ham fisted.

you know, an ep where all the princesses were descended (no ideas on why/how) and seeing them all have to complete their responsibilities as their old selves could be pretty good. would be great world building as we get to see pre-alicorn (if that exists in canon lore) cel and luna. presumably Twi may be a leading light in this situation since she's the only one who can remember what it is like.

The CMC have changed their purpose now, Twilight has started teaching in Canterlot, Starlight Glimmer is a member of the main cast, Cadance is having a foal, the castle map is still active, Rarity is running a second boutique, and Rainbow Dash is getting even closer to the Wonderbolts. I'm expecting all of those to be involved in the next season.
