Fans gave her the last name nickname "Lulamoon", fitting Unicorns general style of taking astronomical-based names.
"Lulamoon" has never been spoken in the show. Hasbro gave its tacit approval for it to be used in merchandise.
A translucent mini-figure toy of Trixie, named Lulamoon in Europe and Trixie Lulamoon in the U.S., appears in the fourth wave of mystery packs. Her pose and mane style are the same as the Rarity mini-figure toy mold. The collector card accompanying the toy has different descriptions between the European and U.S. releases, respectively stating that she "has a favourite star" and "is great at magic tricks."
It's like the "Heartstrings" part of Lyra, or "BonBon", or all of "Octavia Melody"'s name, or "Derpy Hooves". Some of which have or haven't been canon. It depends on the extent to which you consider non-show things to be 'canon' or not.
In the end, it's just the company's nod to the fandom, accepting what they have contributed as a name, in the cases where the name is something Hasbro could accept in the first place. It's some of the effect we've had on the show, or the things that relate to it.

It's a fairly common naming tradition for unicorns, so a large portion of highly talented unicorns will have names like that (Shining Armor is one obvious exception, he doesn't), because they are a large portion of the overall unicorn population.
Here, let me list some non-extraordinary unicorns who still follow the same naming convention:
- Moon Dancer
- Twilight Velvet and Night Light, Twilight's parents, only named in merchandize
- Amethyst Star, has trouble opening a jar of jam in Mare Do Well, also only named in non-show media.
- Apple Star and Dark Moon are also only named in merchandize.
Similarly, a lot of pegasi have names relating to flight or weather phenomena, regardless of whether the bearer is talented/exceptional or not.
Talented ones:
- Rainbow Dash, Easyglider, Firefly, Lightning Dust, Soarin'...
Untalented ones:
- Fluttershy, Cloudchaser, Flitter, Night Glider...
