"Yeah, that's why I'm in a bathrobe," he replied dryly. "What's the deal, you're a northern breed, aren't you supposed to have a thick coat?"
"Of course, sweetie, but I don't have a blanket. Everyone else-"
"We ran out of blankets for everyone after Brandy tore hers up, remember?"
"But it's so cold! You must be cold in that, too."
"It is chilly, yeah," he admitted with another sip of coffee.
"Can you at least give my neck a little scratch while you're here? You're at least a teensy bit warmer than my hooves, correct?"
"I guess." He approached the fence but found she was ever so slightly out of reach. "Hold on," he sighed and climbed the simple pasture fence. Sitting on the flat top of a fence post, he reached out to scratch around her neck
As soon as his fingers made contact, she took a step forward. Large as she was, the single movement was all she needed. She was quick, and her next move, even faster. A hoof came flying from the side and swept him off the post. At the same time, she crouched low. With a surprised grunt, he realized he was atop the Equestrian, laying over back.
"Wh-what are you doing?"
She ignored him and instead centered him over her back with another cold prod of a hoof larger than his head. He started to scramble to one side but she rose up to her full height.

I would almost want to say that a tiny vault would be more akin to an ant farm.
Random scavenger pony realizes it's high-tech and goes through a bunch of effort to get it out. She taps at the top and the sides of the box slide open to reveal the intricate network of metal corridors and rooms, the tiny fusion core that should keep the populace going for ages to come. They blast music at her, knowing well by now that trying to reason with her to get her to stop this foolish quest won't work.
She clutches the box tight as the back of her head hits a ratty pillow. There's only a faint rattling noise from the box, the entire interior rigged to work and allow sleep regardless of direction gravity might tug it in.
A light comes on in the mess hall while the radio plays old classic songs everyone had heard a hundred times before. She blearily squints at the hastily welded together neon sign up against the nullet-proof glass side of the vault box, tiny even so close up.
"Goodnight," she reads aloud, and snorts. "Yeah, yeah. One day I'll get my caps. One day." She sighs and snuggles the box close, falling asleep.
