That and the word filters, even though I say desu baka and senpai I really like them being corrected. Keeps the reddit trash away because they hate weeb stuff.

There should be board specific word filters that can be used as chemo for board specific cancer.

I've noticed this as well. Feels a lot like we're dying, this board got so fucking slow, weren't we one of the top 3 fastest boards? Last weeks ep thread didn't even breach 1,000. Is this how it all ends? moot gives us a board, the mods ravage it, then hiro stomps on us to the point where we're nothing more than a corpse gasping for air? Seriously, who the fuck thought it was a good idea to make a secondary board which directly conflicts with another boards primary topic? Is horse porn really that hard to manage here? Should have just left it alone.

Ok... it depends, are you talking about before faust /mlp/ or after? because before faust normalfags were repelled with that, what is a normalfag back then? well, bronies that were lost and came here thinking this was a cool board, sperglords, autists, etc. if you weren't bothered by this it means you are not very normal
>>
>>25478999

I've been here since mid 2012. Porn wasn't really an issue. Really, the most off-putting thing was, and still is, when people make it a point to talk about how shit they think the show is. It's always been here, and always will be. It's the opposite of the EQD pony worship. The only difference here is that there are a multitude of opinions with valid points, and and anyone who rides the shows dick, or shits on everything for the sake of it is told to fuck off. The reason I kept coming back is because, for the most part, this place isn't a shallow community when it comes to discussing. People post their unironic love for the show, and their honest opinions about what they thought the show did wrong, and it felt like a real community here with the only aspiration being to appreciate ponies together. Counter to popular belief, it's not the cynicism that makes this place, it's the honesty that determines whether or not people like it. If you aren't afraid of honesty, then you'll like it here, even if you don't agree with the opinions of this board.
>>
>>25477633
Yeah no. No it hasn't. I see the same shitty generals and reposts, and the same people complaining about the same stuff. But somehow the board is still slower despite it. It's the worst possible outcome. I'd have much rather this board become red. But for now having some place to see R34 on this site will do.
>>
>>25479231
I just wish there weren't so many hanging around who have stopped loving the show and spend most of their time complaining about how the old seasons were the only good ones.
>>
>>25479272
I've always thought this too, that there are more people complaining now than before. I'm not sure if this is actually true, or a personal bias. When I got here, I didn't have nearly as broad of a perspective as I do now. Whenever I first came across a thread complaining about the board, or the show, I didn't have the context of how the board operated, so those came across as really isolated incidents. Now that I've been here for a while, and seen thread, after thread, after thread, a trend starts to form, and then a conclusion
>Wow, I noticed that there's a trend in people complaining
>I never noticed this trend when I first got here
>That must mean this trend never existed to the degree that I'm seeing now
You can see how a lack of experience can lead to inaccurate perceptions about the board.
>>
Maybe the grumbly oldfags who complain that things will never be as good as they once were and that the board has gone to shit should step up to the plate and teach the cancerous newfags how to pony properly.

What none of you apparently realizes is that the bane of /mlp/ today is the very existence of EQG and its "fans" alone. The only way to get the good old times back is to rid /mlp/ of every last eqgfag and send them all back to Reddit, or >>>/trash/, where they belong.

Eqgfags are the sole reason we cannot have nice things here anymore. The franchise attracts so many retarded newfags and bronies whose initial expectations are skewed and heavily distorted by "the awesome fourchen thread screencaps" you can find lying literally all over 9gag, funnyjunk, and facebook. They want to have a thread just like that, too, but they refuse to accept the traits that inevitably come packed with it - like cynicism, criticism, world hating, profanity, and more. They want to have a legendary 4chan thread, without 4chan.

Fausts's visit didn't help, either. I mean, it was awesome, but holy fuck did it lure more bronies here.

As much as I hate EQG, I have a bit of disagreement with the post. /mlp/ is the sole place in 4chan (before /trash/) to discuss Equestria Girls, and ergo any fan that has devolved to being a fan of it has the right to discuss it here, otherwise being another R15-based hatred where "i dun like thing, >>>/board/" is spammed to add to EG threads as shitposts. This is the same reason why /a/ tried to mute any discussion of Naruto, Bleach and the likes in the early years, but have since then failed despite their hard-earned reputation of being the best of the site's autistic purists and self-moderation.

TLDR, /mlp/ is where EG discussion is, and the consequences of it is inevetibly brought. Besides, EG isn't the only reason newfags are brought in the site, as there are other affecting matters such as thread simulators on youtube, other boards getting their 15 minutes of fame that attracts people in, the wiki of MLP specifically mentioning 4chan, /b/ or /pol/ raids that brings up 4chan to the masses and so on.

Not the original anon, the second one you replied to here.

It's not that I they shouldn't be able to discuss it, it's that the actual people are cancerous as fuck. I mean this with the utmost sincerity that most of them seem like they're straight from reddit. I remember one anon back in 2013, he came from Bradical and said it was pretty much overrun with bronies and redditors to the point where he couldn't stand it and said he left. We actually had a poll about whether it was good or not, overwhelming negative if I recall correctly. Most EqGfags aren't even willing to discuss, they just strawman and scape goat to subjectivism. It's annoying as fuck when the only reason they have for liking the shit is "the characters are cute and it's my opinion." But then they feel the right to expand all over the board in absurdly disproportionate ratios, literally every single EqG thread on the board is a general or writefag prompt. Not to say that that isn't a universal problem, but it doesn't excuse EqGfags.

I digress, EqGfags are part of an overbearing problem that plagues this board, but they're particular in their contribution to it.

Yeah, it's part of the problem. One of which it shares is that it's also a part of the board's overwhelming general/prompt matter that seems to be just about spreading the character's legs in a varying setting. I've also been part of the Normal Norman general back at the peak of its time as both curiosity and being the first general that I've entered post Flutterrape so I know how the anon felt. (Despite them not admitting that it's just AiEG and having multiple OC characters, they still just resort to using Norman and their flavor women while the men are pushed to the side). I don't believe the board can be fully healed, either by its prompts, its ignorant new anons or the bandwagoners as a whole, but I think that with /trash/ as 4chan's second pony board (unofficially), it could be a probable game changer in quality, but only in theory and hope.

As for EG, well, that's to stay until Hasbro decides that Monster High is beaten and decides to make some other humanized abomination spinoff like MLPxAaaayliens.

I did a lot of research on /mlp/'s history after coming here.
>>
>>25481141
Couldn't have put it better myself

We had so few generals in early 2013 too, it feels like everything shifted without me even noticing. It's a mentality which seems to self-perpetuate, more and more anons see a prompt, like it and enter the thread, then they get an idea which stems from that and thus the cycle continues ad-nauseam. Even worse, these stories don't know when to end, they just tack on more side prompts to the point where the general itself becomes absurdly broad, but also niche at the same time. I've always seen it as the reddit mentality of micro-boards (generals) and major-boards (the board itself) and each anon gets their own special snowflake culture and 7 person circlejerk.
>ignorant new anons or the bandwagoners
Yep, most of them seem to hide in generals so it isn't even apparent until something like the recent ghost threads. And yeah, we'll never truly recover, all I can even think to hope for to start over is a scruffening, a sad fate that our bane would soon be our betterment.

I still don't know how to feel about /trash/, on one had, it's a chance to try again, albeit with one thread (i bet that's their plan, to refunnel us back in, but with porn as a gimmick), but at the same time it divides the userbase and now both feel devoid and inactive.

EqG is shit and I don't think I've seen a single redeeming quality, every one was a complete, dissatisfying waste of time and it's even a detriment to the shows profits, I can only hope Hasbro wises up and kills it, but somehow I think they're going to keep extending it. Regardless, I don't think it should be outright banned or anything, just reduced and culled, a lot. Right now, it feels like they're is a grand total of 30 EqGfags to like 14 threads. Pretty sure every discussion I've had has been with the same 4 people.

>>25481193

>Most EqGfags aren't even willing to discuss, they just strawman and scape goat to subjectivism

May a fan (well, semi-fan, I didn't like the first movie) of the series weigh in on this?

I've tried on several occasions to explain what I find interesting in EQG to its critics- the songs, the development of Sunset Shimmer's character, some of the villains, the heavier emphasis on continuity- but most people simply say "no those parts are shit" and dismiss it. I've come to the conclusion that despite my efforts I cannot force others to see the same good I see in the series, and it's really not my place to control their opinions. That said, their inability to get the appeal of it should not stop anyone from enjoying it or from discussing it on the board. I would expect anons on /mlp/ to be more understanding of such a situation, since fans of FiM faced the same problem in the community's /co/ days.

There's nothing wrong with not being into a series. You aren't going to like everything, that's natural. It only becomes a bad thing when you refuse to respect those who do like it because their interest doesn't make sense to you.

Perhaps your experience is different. I must agree that not everyone on my side acts the best when it comes to discussion. Both sides kinda suck when it comes to it, but I would think EqGfags would be a bit more partial to proving why they like it since it's traditionally been hated by the majority here.
>FiM faced the same problem in the community's /co/ days.
This is an oversimplification I've seen perpetuated far too much. It was /b/'s trolling that pissed everyone off, the days in mlpg were fine, they thrived and prospered in the little general. In fact, they were pretty much untrollable, we literally got fluffy ponies and fluffy abuse from a failed /b/ attempt at triggering us. EqGfags fret way too easily to be compared and the difference will always be that a loud majority got itself contained into a board whilst a quiet and inward minority was grouped with them (mlpg). I think one of the biggest complaints, one which I hold personally as well, is that I never actually see discussion. In MLPG and early /mlp/ we had a plethora of bg ponies to theorize on, we created so much, whilst it seems bradical fell more towards making AiE/greentext stories about characters and assigning absurd and obscure personalities to blank slates, with most characters not even having the blessing of a cm to base off of. I've actually tried to look into what they've produced but it's tiny, barely any art on Derpi.

I can see the parallel, but I must disagree.

>when you refuse to respect those who do like it because their interest doesn't make sense to you.
I disagree, I personally think EqGfags should be jumping at the chance to justify their liking, it would put them in the positive since they would at least have an argument, but it seems like they'd rather just meander in their own threads and ignore everyone else. Granted, that doesn't justify anons shitposting their threads, but sometimes some action is needed, especially with the abundance of shitty greentext.

Wtf is /trash/ ?
>>
The board became even more generals-oriented and maybe it's a coincidence but I've seen more tripfags than usual. However, eqg threads are way less. Overall it became more stale and shitty.

>That is exactly what old /mlp/ used to repel normalfags
No that was real horse porn, which apparently /mlp/ believes was just a meme from 2012.

All /mlp/ needs to become """""""""""good""""""""""" "again", is for people to make cool pictures and stories of ponies. That's pretty much it. This can range from cutesy pictures, funny reply chains, and good ol' fashioned smut. But you know like, quality smut, none of this couple line crap.
>>
And don't forget the meme threads. Oh, the meme threads. They bring the quality level down a noticeable notch, too. Close up pictures, cool quotes from cool movies, empty characters saying empty things. They all need to die.
>>
>>25481722
Oh nah, those usually dies with less than 4 replies or turns into something memorable thanks to some lurking anon.

Deleted threads end up in trash and global rule 15 (no ponies related images except on /mlp/) does not apply there.
Also it's red, as in NSFW is allowed.

Truly a glorious place for all horsefuckers.

Wrong.
Those are the autists that left.
The people who are obsessed with literal horsefuckery more so than ponies are the real cancer.
I've noticed a decrease in posts advocating it since /trash/.

You know, I would think the green text prompt bait would have died off by now that we finally have a place to fap to horses. This board's obsession with green came out of the porn ban anyway, couldn't post porn but could talk about it (which makes being a SFW board pointless because all your boss had to do is look at your screen 3 seconds longer to see how you want to lick Rainbow Dash's crusty cunt or whatever) so horny autists tried to b8 writefags into making their fetishes via shitposting.

Now it seems this culture is so engrained in anons that they literally don't know what else to do.
>>
>>25477633
No there wasn't. The only noticeable difference is that activity decreased.
>>
>>25482300
Double wrong.
I'm not talking about literal horsefuckery, I'm talking about just about every single greentext on here ever. It's all only ever "Anon fucks X" anymore.
If "Cupcakes" were written today on this board, it'd be about how Pinkie kidnaps Anon but then decides to fuck him instead and he becomes her assistant. That's how fucking one-note the greentexts on this board have become.

You may separate the two in specifics, but a core factor remains: EQG fans are a group within this board that wants to enjoy something, and are being told they shouldn't. Perhaps they aren't eager to hear from its critics, preferring to spend their time with those who already like the series. Or maybe, like me, they have tried and realized those critics aren't going to be persuaded, no matter how eager to explain themselves they "should" be. Either way, someone is trying to deny them their right to make threads about what they choose while remaining within board rules. Everyone seems to have a different excuse. Your comment about assigning personalities to blank slates strikes me as especially ridiculous, given that this fandom has a long-standing reputation for doing the same. In the end, you keep coming back to this idea that action needs to be taken against EQG threads.

I have to ask: why? What harm do those threads do you by existing? Why should their particular subject of interest be restricted when others are not? Because they are not discussing enough? Because you find the content they create to be uninspired? It still sounds like personal preference to me. At its heart, your reason for wanting something done against these threads is that you don't like them. It's worth mentioning that I don't even go to most EQG threads. I don't tend to visit generals as a whole, whether their focus is ponies or humans. I just don't believe in stopping others from having a good time when they're not doing anything wrong.

Because there's simply always one too many of them. At the absolute minimum, Eqg threads should be limited to three live (= non-archived, non-deleted) up at a time. And no Eqg shitposting, not even reaction pics, in regular threads.

This is absurd. You're just trying to ban people from posting what you don't like now.
>>
>>25477633
The board has improved... slightly. There's still many generals that need to be moved to /trash/ before you can say this place has been cleaned up though.
>>
>>25483839
It's an opinion m8, I was sharing to see if others agree

Why do I hold this? Because when I purvey both my filters, hidden threads, and the catalog looking for EqG threads, I see greentext and generals, no show discussion, no hypothesis or actual discussion of the movies, just endless sums of shitty stories which could, and have been before, be herded into a single thread. As I said before, it's a problem faced by the entire board, but EqGfags are just a prime example of it.
>this fandom has a long-standing reputation for doing the same.
Indeed, but it was never a vehicle for greentext, it was the fandom making characters, and typically switching or adapting the personality if new developments arrived. I'm not well versed in Bradical or what they did with their background characters, but it seemed like most was arbitrary and made solely as a greentext device. It's not really my main point though, mostly a personal observation.
>is that you don't like them
No shit, I don't see the value in letting a few anons have their own thread and subgeneral, that's what reddit is for. It all comes back to the problem of generals and endless greentext prompts, the cancer which kills the board. It shouldn't be me justifying why fanfiction should be limited on a board meant to discuss a show and movies, it should be them justifying why their special topic deserves a thread to be bumped for eternity, all threads deserve a check for that. Take the Star Wars general, why does that exist? They're small (16 people last time I checked) and seem to be focused around greentext, why? Why does that need or deserve to exist? Can't they just have a thread once a month? Writefags wouldn't be constrained by quotas of content per thread and could develop ideas much easier and independently. Just observe for a few weeks/months on how many threads start with >you let it die and then go check what is actually being produced in the thread
>>
Why do all of you faggots always assume everyone who likes clop hates the show?
>>
>>25486889
It's the other way around. Just because they clop doesn't mean they hate the show,

There are a few people who hate on the show and justify their reason for staying on the board is for " the porn".
It's why fans of the fandom are ridiculed since they have no say about the show if they haven't seen any new episodes.
