I think Revival of F was a sort of humorous movie rather than a serious one. Whether that was Akira's goal or it was just coincidence. The forms were literally just color scheme changes, like SSJ. The fight with Frieza's henchmen seemed more like a Benny Hill chase than anything. Even moments that were meant to be epic, like the death of Frieza, seemed funny because of the extended amount of time it took Goku to attack left Frieza enough time to panic, react, and still blow up the planet. This is of course aside from the humor that is intentional. I expect it to be cooler, no pun intended, in DBS.
More on topic: Wouldn't it be better if it was Sombra or Tirek. I guess it would be cool if the "spirit" of NMM came back some how without Luna as the vessel, making up some reason why. I think Sombra deserves another chance since he had potential and then poof.

There's no way they could make this work well without doing a lot of retcons. NMM was just Luna allowing dark magic to overtake her, and after the evidence of all that chronic psychological torture she put herself through from her guilt, its not gonna happen again.
The closest we've got to this was NMR, and look at all the changes they had to make to NMM's origin to allow it to be plausible.
Now, with Starlight Glimmer's time fuckery, we can get a chance for another NMM/Evil Celestia to exist, but they'll probably just set the timeline right instead of confronting them....or just blast the evil pair with Rainbow Power, seeing that its the new EoH.
Either way, I dont expect any more over the top pony fightingand I'm glad that's not the case

This. The reason I started watching this show was mostly for cute and funny slice of life episodes. Whenever I feel like watching more action and violence I watch shows like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones etc. However mlp does take place in a mythological fantasy world existing of both good and bad creatures/forces. No surprise some conflict happens now and then. In fact the prologue of this show was pretty dark too, with Nightmare Moon threatening to make the night last forever.
