It's a sequel to some novel called "Queen of Leo". It's where Renais was first introduced, which explains why she seems to come right the fuck out of nowhere in FINAL.

FINAL doesn't take much from the TV series other than Guy being an Evoluder, Galeon being out in space and J being a hero. These three things are the only parts of the TV show that carry over as plot elements in FINAL, so it probably means about as much as the novel so far as FINAL being a sequel to it.
