I just got finished watching Thunderbirds Are Go. They do the whole suit up and launch thing every episode, so I've got that sort of stuff on the mind.
What's everyone's favorite /m/ launch?

It was so cool, they began the OP with it.
Would have been even cooler if it wasn't stock footage in every other episode.

Who's credited for the various cuts in the Fighbird OP? Which ones are directly by Obari or his peers?

The whole practice of the launch sequence is actually taken directly from Anderson's shows; just look at Mazinger Z onwards.
Launching from under the pool like Thunderbird 1 or Mazinger is cool and all but my heart will always be for Thunderbird 2's launch.

Captain Earth's launch sequence was pretty great.

Seriously, my mind was blown the first time I ever watched that. Damn, I miss that show, regardless of what everyone said about it.

It's Bones, so it starts dragging its feet pretty badly after the first handful of episodes and what little it had putters out at the ending.
Very simple but it always stuck with me.

Captain Earth, its soundtrack and general ambiance just makes me feel so blue. Like I'm nostalgic for something I've never experienced. Even the tagline "When I opened the door called truth, my childhood ended. It was a summer I could never forget" makes me feel kind of fuzzy inside. These kind of vague, longing, emotions just swell up, similar to when I'm listening to music by the band Galileo Galilei.

Not really from an anime series per se but that opening launch sequence from DYRL on PSX just hits all my buttons. Build up to launch, taxi to catapult, consoles and screens whir to life, last second flap/surface checks, engine power to max, launch officer lowers his arm, and the VF launches into the air.

I find it silly to judge a show by the studio behind it.
"It's Toei, so it's [ambiguous criticism that ultimately says nothing at all]"
"It's Sunrise, so it's poorly written [ambiguous criticism that ultimately says nothing at all]"

I didn't know Pitz was a brown recluse.

Bonus points for times he jumps off a cliff to get to the HQ.
