ITT: Shows with great concepts but bad/boring executions.
Let's face it, the stage magic concept was neat, but well, you know.

I wouldn't call the concept anything more than unique, actually. I love her costume though, can't remember who else wears basically the same thing.
>I mean, logically with team fights, the battles should be more intense right?
>>14469045
The execution was fine. It just needed to be in a 13 episode shorter series
>>14469045
I don't know if you could really call 7's concept great.
>>14469045
Macross 7's isn't bad or anything, It's just "Here's 20 something episodes of nothing."
>>14469205
Sounds pretty bad to me senpai
>>14469176
I wouldn't say Macross7's concept is great, either, but I also grew to like it a lot once the show moved on from PLANET DANCE.
I find most shows with 50+ episodes don't really hold my attention.
>>14469045
It gets better.
>>14469206
Yeah but when you get past those 20 episodes it suddenly becomes really good, like the writers didn't give a shit before that point.
>>14469261
I've seen the whole show and it really doesn't.
The first three episodes were the great concept. The bad execution was everything after.
>>14469205
> GaoGaiGar isn't bad or anything, It's just "Here's 20 something episodes of nothing."
>>14469265
You have a shitty taste, then.
>>14469045
What if we did Battlestar Galactica, but with giant robots. Humanity is pushed to the edge of extinction, and a relentless enemy pursues them with increasingly dangerous threats that have to develop increasingly powerful weapons to defeat until they completely outpace the villains so that we can stop worrying about them and focus on love triangles and weird fetishes.
>>14469119
>unique
Exactly what I meant, yeah.
>I love her costume though, can't remember who else wears basically the same thing.
DC Comics' Zatanna is the closest I can think of.
>>14469288
GaoGaiGar doesn't have someone singing the same song every week and not firing missiles every week
>>14469045
Try every single Gundam except maybe 0079.
>>14469306
It also doesn't have as much stock footage (mostly on transformations/combinations/final attacks as I remember).
There were like entire battles in Macross 7 made up of stock footage.
>>14469306
It comes close at times.
>>14469288
Yeah, But I actually cared about 7's cast.
>>14469306
Surely it doesn't. Even when Mike shows up, he has some variety, even if his cheese factor is through the roof.
What GaoGairGar DOES have is the adventures of fairy boy, his goofy friends, and his literal future wife. That stuff became such a grind I can barely remember it. Even Volvogg wasn't enough for me to stick with it the first time I watched it.
With that said, I came back to it, and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the series. It really did pick up after the grind period. I feel similarly about Macross7.
>>14469297
I'd never forget Trucy. Oh well, I'm probably just dumb.
>>14469338
This. Both shows are fun in the right mindset but you can skip a good 70% of the episodes without really missing anything.
I get GGG is a monster of the week super robot show and those can go on as long as they feel like but I'm not sure why anyone thought M7 needed more than 26 episodes at most.
>>14469338
I was able to get through GaoGaiGar easier because they kept adding new robot friends to fight and interact with as well as special attacks. Even before the show moved past it's repetitive nature
>>14469309
You should take your nostalgia goggles off.
>>14469283
I could agree with that. There was something, it just went nowhere fast.
