It is one of only a handful anime that I consider to be an actual 10/10.
>>
>>14465495
Why does this piss me off so much?
>>
>>14465495
The movie's fun, but it leans even further into that supernatural stuff that the series got into around ep14.
>>
>>14465517
Let's see.
The parfait is half the size of the guy's head.
The guy's sleeves clearly come to his wrists, but they're ultra baggy around the shoulders which would suggest that they'd be baggier around them than they are.
And the spoon is fucking weird because it's either way too long or way too small.
>>
>>14465492
I never liked Yamato so no

>And the spoon is fucking weird because it's either way too long or way too small.
It's literally a parfait spoon, anon.
>>
>>14465492
I liked the Yamato movie.
Very sad ending:

>>
>>14465492
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is a far better series than any Gundam ever made.
>>
>>14465716
We'll see if they use Origin to do a similar thing with MSG (and actually do a god job but knowing /m/ a good chunk of anons will scream that its shit for x reason), god knows it could use a touchup especially on Okawara's MS designs
>>
>>14465492
Inferior to original Yamato for the shameless waifubaiting and genderbending alone, superior for shameless fapping to genderbent brown goddess

How does it feel now that 2199 is considered a classic?
>>
>>14465540

Almost every word in this post is uninformed. It's kind of impressive. That's not a guy, parfaits are often large and elaborate, military jackets often have loose shoulders (for ease of movement) but tight cuffs (to prevent them catching) and that's a completely normal spoon given what she's using and is often used in real life for that exact purpose.

The truth must hurt for Gundam idiots like yourself.

That split second frame is really comparable to an entire show filled with it.

I only watched the first two episodes. I hear it becomes it's own thing later on, but the two episodes I saw were just a real bad remake of a classic show. Nothing about it appeals to me.
>>
>>14470606
It spends a lot more time exploring the Gamilas side. Worth watching for those scenes alone.

Okita also has a much more prominent role.
>>
Mamoru Kodai's fate in 2199 is far better written in 2199 than the original too.
>>
>>14465492
Still Fucking love it. I wish Funimation hadnt dropped the ball so bad on the US release.
>>
>>14465696
They have already been done, nimrod.
>>
>>14465492
I loved it. I wish they went with a more retro/Leiji Matsumoto-esque look, but whatever.
I'm surprised it's not very well known among casuals, I think it makes for a great entry level anime and sometimes I try recommending it to people who aren't really into anime but like sci-fi.
>>
>>14470606
Yeah, the two episodes are the worst.
They added quite a bit of waifu pandering too
The relation between Koudai and every one who isn't a woman have taken a hit due to this.
Also Koudai is less manly and more generic harem guy, though they avoid adding an actual harem (thanks god)
And the final fate of the bad guy isn't as good as in the original IMO

But overall, it's a little better than the original I'll say. The action scene are better, there is a lot of good scene with Gamilius and they actually do some cool stuff with the original story while adding completly new things.

Also we get more scene of Dessler being a pompous asshole and this is fantastic.
>>
>>14475647
>>14470606

By bad guy I mean Gamilius. You should tryi it again from the episode 3.
>>
>>14475647
>And the final fate of the bad guy isn't as good as in the original IMO
The issue with the original ending is that it clearly wasn't made with sequels in mind. 2199 makes it easier to believe that they could still return and makes it clear that there are more alien civilizations out there. They should be able to make the transition to the eventual season 2 in a much more smooth way than the original tv show.
>>
>>14465492
Oh hell yes. The movie was disappointing in which it featured very few of Captain Okita, but overall it was enjoyable. Plus it hopefully sets up the Comet Empire in the sequel.
>>
It fixed many of the original's flaws but it's still shit because it starts from a shit basis.
>>
Should I watch this or the original
pls no memes
>>
>>14479717
watch both unless you're a fag who doesn't like cartoon spaceships
>>
>>14475647
>The action scene are better,
Really? I'm the guy who only watched the first two episodes but I seem to remember space battleships zooming around like fighter planes. I'm not sure I can stomach much of that.
>>
>>14479717
The original obviously. Which one influenced anime and sci-fi for decades to come? Which one actually made a difference? It's a historically important and culturally significant show and deserves to be seen.
>>
>>14484059
Some of them are quite zippy, but I'd say it gets toned down as the show goes on.

>>14484059
Yes, that battle scene is horrible, but it only happens in the first episode and near the end when the staff re-used all the animations while only swapping the models. Every other time, the ships move slowly and look heavier.
>>
>>14484076
>Which one influenced anime and sci-fi for decades to come?

Yeah, you can see the influence of a corny nationalist show in SO many places.

Like Battlestar Galactica, and...uh.
