easily my favorite.

Why is it that the best attacks are usually only used once?
>>14458245
So they won't get boring and stay unique

Nah. Pic related could have happened every episode and I would never have gotten sick of it.
That one attack move from Gravion, White Fang.

Some are so good that they get used every episode and nobody gets tired of them.

Big O almost cheats with the number of big finisher attacks it has, and they all look amazing.

The Daedalus attack from Macross was pretty cool and unique at the time:

So was the Macross F version:

I always kinda liked this specific AT for having a shield with a pile bunker attached to it. Utility shields are always neat. I liked 00 for having that too.
Why do so few mecha even have physical shields, anyway?

It's still unique, man. There just aren't many mecha that are the SDF-1's size, and of the ones that are, even fewer are purposed as carriers. I can't think of a single example of this kind of attack ever happening outside Macross.
It's always fun when the weapon itself is the special attack. Bonus points if it's fun to shout.

Love Love Tenkyoken is good, but I always loved Shining Finger Sword more.

Can't help, I love that kind of attack.

>Gigant beam sword.
Speaking of which, was Dancouga the first example of that, or are there earlier cases that I'm not aware of?

Dancouga was definitely the first to have a giant beam sword. The first Sword finisher was, probably, Voltes V (1977).
