I see it more as a matter of familiarity.
This particular mech will be far more likely to pop up in a /co/ discussion than here, so one might say it's "home" is closer to them.
That does not undermine it's presence here in any way. Content overlap is unavoidable since boards like /co/ or /a/ are content general while /m/ is content specific. So we cross and overlap with half the site.
The sheer breadth of mediums /m/ is encompassing is the reason people sometimes wonder where does /m/ actually start and where it ends (if at all).
