VOTOMS is one of the best mecha shows out there. I think it has one of the best endings in all of anime. Go watch it now, before you get spoiled. Don't forget to check out Armored Hunter Mellowlink as well
Also, stop at the Shining Hearsay OVA, as in don't watch it. That and the OVAs after are shit and ruin the series.
