agreed, GENESIS and CYCLOPS were both horrifying weapons although I think what makes them so noticeable is both how drawn out and cruel they are(most other WMD's in /m/ properties are near instantaneous and indeed often offscreen), and how the gore they create clashes so hard with the incredibly childish style Hirai uses(a similar issue pops up with Fafner and Cross Ange as well)

The beam saber through the hull in Thunderbolt 4 was pretty nasty.
Slowly being incinerated by a beam saber has to be one hell of a way to go.

There's a ton of stock footage. The art and animation looks awful and got worse in the remakes. The ammount of trouble they went through to cut corners is mind-boggling, especially considering that SEED had the highest budget of any Gundan anime when it came out.
