***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Anyone ever feel like there's some kind of oily substance on your kit when you first get it? Airbrush told me they use some kind of spray to help the molds pop out or keep them from sticking. I feel like some of that was on this Hi-Zack I built...

Amazing Binder, Portent Flyer, and the Kurenai weapon set are all readily available on amazon, I'm sure the state of the shelves back in Japan are about the same.
That leaves.. the Lightning backpacks that got reprinted was it last month or the month before? Then there's the powered powereder, in a similar state?
They really didn't leave that much out, as far as I can tell.

I'd suggest a gravity-fed, internal-mix double action airbrush (gravity fed meaning it feeds from a reservoir in the top, which is less prone to feed problems when there's little paint in the reservoir; internal-mix because it gives a more even result; and double action because you can adjust both the pressure and the width of the spray pattern on the fly), and not worry about getting an expensive model until you've learned how to handle the "cheap" version. (Note that a cheap starter kit with an airbrush and compressor runs about $200 US, and the compressor will be terrible. *Good* hardware runs in the $300 US range for the compressor alone, and the same again for the air brush - I suggest changing the compressor before the brush though as even a cheap airbrush with a good compressor is better than an expensive airbrush with a cheap compressor)
>>

I guess this stuff is actually quite expensive

I think I might have to reconsider
>>
>>14434918
Gelgoog and all variants. ESPECIALLY the Gelgoog Marine.
>>
>>14434918
Goog, GM, Command, and Alex are my top picks but they've all been mentioned. They're all good designs that came out just a little too soon before the technology was ready to handle them. I'd prefer releasing updates of old 1/144 MSVs or even bringing in ones that have never had a release before.

Also, if they don't want to risk money on a kit, why not sell a cheap 1 runner conversion kit? It can't be that difficult and you can still jew it for 7-8 bucks. Is it simply because they can't release a full kit of that design at a later point? I'm a huge MSV fan and I'd love if they released, for example, just the torso and backpack for GM Cannon.
>>
>>14435838
You honestly don't need to spend 200$ if you are just starting to airbrush. This is a pretty cheap starter kit that I used when i first started https://www.amazon.com/Master-Airbrush-Multi-purpose-Dual-action-Compressor/dp/B001TO578Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467421805&sr=8-3&keywords=master+airbrush

Question for my airbrush people.
Most people use a harsher liquid for cleaning their AB like hardware store lacquer thinner. After you use that do you use something else to flush the airbrush to make sure none of that harsh stuff is lingering and interacts with your paint? And if so what do you use, or do you find it to not be a problem?

The only stuff I have from Victory Gundam are three HGUC V2s (currently done up as one Assault, one Buster, and one Assault Buster).

The V2 - even the slightly overscale HGUC version - is hilarious to pose next to some of the other suits I have, as my collection leans towards the larger end of the spectrum. S, Ex-S, all the Unicorns in Destroy mode, Nu, Hi-Nu, Sazabi... all of these 20+ meter suits, and there's this *midget* of a suit that barely reaches crotch height on most of them, and it can wipe the floor with all of them at the same time...
>>
>>14436249

I've never used anything stronger than 96% denatured alcohol (I only use acrylics for airbrushing, and this washes them right off), and at that strength the alcohol left in the airbrush evaporates in seconds.

>>
>>14436828

Unicorn mode is definitely more stable, and less prone to shedding parts. The beam sabers on mine aren't held in place on their pegs by anything, the arm panels (which you connect the shield to...) fall off, and the psychoframe in the knees won't lock into place, so overall the kit is terrible for posing, or at least mine is. In Unicorn mode this doesn't matter as much because the parts in question are hidden or held in place by other parts, but in Destroy mode... argh!

Still keeping mine in Destroy mode though, for basically the same reason you mentioned - it's a bitch to transform and I don't want to do it too much and risk breaking stuff as happened on my VF-25s.

>>
>>14436748

For plain early-mid UC thruster power, check out the Sinanju and Sazabi, as they have thrusters literally out the ass.

00 also has some wild possibilities for combining stuff - stick two Quanta shields on the backpack of the 00, and it'll have twelve sword bits plus the two swords; or you can swap the arms of the 1.5 Gundam for the arms of the Reborns, and have three GN Drives.

Then there's the Voiture Lumiere from the V2 Gundam, or the ludicrously huge boosters on the Ex-S...
>>
>>14437038
I'm thinking of a cheaper kit that has a lot of actual thrusters. I'd like to avoid 00 wankery, and I don't want them to be too big either. Even though they're pricey I think a thunderbolt kit might work for what I'm looking for, especially with those really long thin ones. Although I think those are tanks on some mobile suits?

A cheap compressor of the type you get with the rock bottom starter sets doesn't have a tank, it feeds directly to the airbrush and the only pressure vessel is the hose.

I have one of these, that I got for free from a friend that upgraded, and it sucks rocks, but it's all I've got and all I can afford because disposable income and I are words that don't go together.

>not really an explosion but cheap compressors do fail
I could understand shorts and burning, but explosions seems a bit over the top, especially for small motors like the ones we use for airbrushing.
>>
>>14440263
Not him but is there anything wrong with using a 'shop compressor', it has a water trap and a regulator installed, and I have a secondary water trap on my airbrush just to be sure.
>>

>>
>>14440286

how fine is the adjustment on the regulator

that's the major concern
>>
>>14440306

that's a tank failure though, and at a much higher pressure than a hobby compressor

and the tank was clearly kept outside and rusted
>>
>>14440328
I was able to get it to about 15PSI according to the gauge, if that's the only problem I could just get a more precise regulator if it's ever an issue.
>>
>>14440347

I think you would be ok with most paints then

really "hot" paints (like high solvent content true laquers) such as alclad metals might be tough though because they can go fast and the effect depends a lot on your air control

only difference would be how long it lasts and how noisy it is basically yeah

I have a Paasche D3000R that is great, I have my connections taped and I literally leave it on all the time because the tank just stays topped and it doesn't leak, so I can just start painting any time. I haven't turned it off in probably 5 months. I would never go back to a tankless compressor at this point, there are too many advantages.

yeah I have until January for that project so I've been focusing on the origin kit but I finished the optics. Like how the barrels can swap out, I made the connection for the longer rifle scope able to snap into the top of the smaller optic.

No? Look at the Kotobukiya kits. Hell, even Max Factory's own Dougram kits had better color separation than this half-assed effort, and they were even smaller and cheaper to boot.

This does not bode well for their upcoming Pacific Rim kits.
>>
>>14441649

Look at that Dougram kit which is all fucking flat slabs and shit and then look at Chamber. How would you make that kit without a ton of decals? You can't.

Kotobukiya's kits require tons of detail painting and even then they've gotten better because they prepaint things for you while in the past you just had to do it on your own.

You fail to understand how far plamo has come. If you were a military fag you would have to deal with kits that are all one color, and come with nothing, and don't even have pegs. Chamber is a respectable effort considering the design.

Don't have a pic of just the weapon, but my favorite is the GN Sword III.

One thing I love about the design direction of Gundam 00 as a whole, is how everything looks futuristic while still maintaining a believable mechanical and technological look.
I'm not really sure how to articulate this better, but for comparison, most UC designs (to my eyes, at least) look very mechanical and functional, but not exactly futuristic. They look more or less similar to present-day tech.

Hey /gpg/ Been nice and busy working on a lot of stuff, and I just started my RG 00Russer, which is the second in a 3 part little project I'm working on. Now, I've run int a little snag. I lost two of the stickers that make little L-shapes on the knees.

Now, due to my autism, I went out and bought some blue paint to try to redo the L-shapes, since I can't access my other paints, and I think I managed to match it well, but what do you think? Should I paint the other leg, or does the paint not clash with the colors of the stickers? The paint is on the right leg, and not the left, the left is just purely stickers.
