The thing with Mari Okada is that she's basically a plugger scriptwriter who people sometimes mistakenly think of as good on her own and let her work unsupervised instead of as a place holder grunt writer with oversight in place. Tatsuyuki Nagai the director (aka the one people never pay attention to because he's not memetic) is a Sunrise affiliate and the one they clearly actually wanted as the project head and he brought his favorite plugger Okada on board to handle some script stuff but if you think Sunrise is actually just going to let her do whatever without going over her scripts and making changes or having Nagai make necessary changes like he did with AnoHana than think again. She's writing and creating this series in the same sense that someone like Takayama wrote and created Aldnoah Zero.

That's cause all three of those had Tatsuyuki Nagai as director, the one people actually like. Thinking Okada was the one that made AnoHana and Toradora a hit is probably the biggest mistake the anime industry ever made in assessing the merits of it's own people. Hell he doesn't even need Okada to deliver a hit as Railgun S showed, the guy just has a good sense for action, pacing and character scenes and finding a decent enough balance between it all where a lot of modern directors have failed to demonstrate even base level competency.

Yes, more so than Origin. Even if you disagree with his choices, at least Yas does make the effort to flesh out the characters, their philosophy and details. Even if you don't like them, Origin did add something new to the narratives.
CDA did almost nothing of the sort. Out of the 10+ volumes, only about 2-3 volumes had any impact in explaining Zeta.
The main complaint people had about Lucas was that it did very little in showing the budding friendship between Obi-wan and Anakin and was too late in showing Anakin's process in turning to the dark side. Those exact complaints pretty much applies to CDA. We don't actually see the process of Haman ending up being the schemer in Zeta. Just as how people were complaining that Obi-wan vs Anakin was shallow since in the first 2 movies, there wasn't much display of chemistry between the two so the betrayal lacked any emotional impact, her relationship with Char was shallow as hell since it's just a teenage girl having a schoolgirl crush on him.
