According to outside the show materials, supposedly Jamitov Hymem is a closet Deikunist and deliberately staffed the Titans with assholes to make people hate the Federation. Once opinion against the Federation reached its zenith, he would use the Titans to overthrow the Federation in a coup and then move everyone into space. So basically it's kind of like what Oz actually accomplished in Wing (doing shit to make people hate the Earth Alliance, then overthrowing then in a popular coup) except it never really went anywhere before Scirocco made them his little vanguard army for Jupiter.

Yeah, when pilots get serious, the mechs' eyes flash or glow brighter to reciprocate that, like Fellini and the Wing Fenice in their Let's Go, Partner moment, but this thing's eye actually made me shiver for a second when it shrunk to a pupil.
