Why didn't he go anywhere, /m/? Why did Toho essentially

Why didn't he go anywhere, /m/?

Why did Toho essentially produce two separate Ultraman-esque characters in the same year? Was Jet Jaguar just too different from Ultraman, compared to Zone Fighter?

In retrospect I can't help but feel like, with the movie tie-in, that Jet Jaguar's show would have been more memorable. Especially with the prospect of a non-henshin hero being unique for television of the time.

Y'know, I always saw Jet Jaguar as Toho's version of Jumborg Ace rather than Ultraman (Which was Zone Fighter)

I see no robots here.

Well, all those shows were popular at the time, with Ultraman being the prevailing one. Jet Jaguar was Toho's effort to compete with them collectively.

I can't tell if this is a joke I don't get or some "Godzilla isn't /m/" shit, but in case it's the latter, Jet Jaguar is literally a robot.

Live action super robot is /m/, go spam this in power sentai general.

Isn't that also live action super robot?

Probably because everyone hated Godzilla vs. Megalon. Even as a Godzilla-loving kid I thought that one was stupid.

A couple things. The kid who designed Jet Jaguar was horribly dissapointed in the final product. There is concept art out there that shows the original version. It has the head of like a fly, very strange.

Also, the movie BOMBED big time. The worst next to TOMG and GFW. Unlike in America, where this film got wide exposure, it's kind of the least talked about G film in Japan.

It seems like they wouldn't have known that when they started planning Zone Fighter, though.

Also, to this day I don't get why people hate/hated that movie. Not a lot of Godzilla through most of it I guess, and it absolutely doesn't take itself seriously. But it's not as unwatchable as Godzilla's Revenge.

Were audiences just not as ready for goofy Godzilla as I am now?

>concept art
I'm very scared and confused right now.

I'd heard the kid's original concept described as "a cross between Ultraman and Mazinger Z"

So where the hell did this come from? Part of me just wants to see the kid's drawing.
