No. Turn A red eyes make it a better choice.

lol no Syd Mead > filthy weeb otaku trash
>>
>>14415350
I like both.

Apples and oranges.
>>
>>14415357
>G-Reco is the first Gundam series Tomino has worked on since Turn A
>It takes place in the Correct Century, and according to Tomino 500 years after Turn A
>They don't ask for Syd Mead to design a new Gundam, to continue the philosophy of "evolving" the design of the original RX-78-2.
>>
No. The Turn A in my opinion is the better design. It feel like the evolution of the Gundam, puts function over form, and has a very distinct look.

That being said, the G-Self is also a good design. It had a unique look for the head and does give off a feeling of a high power/stronger Gundam.
>>
>ITT: Buttmad Turnfags who can't see the difference between a good design and the Turn-A because they're salty about powerlevels.

The Zeta is a timeless classic that no other Gundam can hope to live up to.
>>
They're both great, but the I like the Turn A more because of how aerodynamic it looks.
>>
>>14415389
>function over form

It doesn't. It's a hollow shell.
>>
>>14415432
Seconding this.
>>
I prefer the G-Self, especially either with no pack or the space pack.

I just don't like the Turn A very much. Some parts of it are really very nice, the back of the legs and the line that goes from shoulder to shoulder across the chest. But other parts of it ruin it for me, namely the busy gribbled hatches on the torso. The spherical head and traditional Gundam colors don't help it either.
>>
>>14415389
>It had a unique look for the head

In that "Its the Nirvash" sort of way?

Ha ha. Everyone knows Mk-II is the real reason we kept watching Zeta.

>Is the G-Self a better design than the Turn A?
No, but the Perfect Pack is the best version of the G-Self. So curvy and smooth.
>>
>>14415350
Those battery packs/thrusters on the legs really help to balance out the big backpacks. It's a great design.

There's a better reason than both Mk-II and Zeta.
>>
>>14415350
I like it a lot but no, Mead put so much work into the Turn A it is amazing. I feel like they held the G-Self back a little bit from being truly weird
>>
>>14415989
Well in terms of Gundam it's somewhat unique. I'm not saying it's the most unique mech head, but it's not as grounded in RX-78-2 head design as other Gundams.
>>
>>14415489
It's a hollow shell for storing cows. Can the G-Self store cows as well as the Turn A? Didn't think so.
>>
The G-Self looks like a generic Gundam design that was modified to be more kid-friendly with rounded corners, bigass eyes, rabbit ears and a baby blue color replacing the traditional. It's like halfway to being a Doozy Bot. They should have actually used this style in AGE, it would have been a good match for those character designs.

Turn A is at least unique.
>>
>>14416062
It's a better head than the Turn A's. Mustache aside, it's not far from a ping pong ball with a mohawk/top knot.
>>
>>14416080
>Can the G-Self store cows as well as the Turn A?
It would fit in the cockpit.
And does the Turn A come with a toilet? Didn't think so.

>>
I like both, but I dislike how the G Self regressed from the hyper futuristic look of the Turn A
>>
>>14416204
Nigga, all gundams look futuristic, Turn A looks Art-deco futurist if anything.
>>
>>14416204
Fuck off canonfag.
>>
>>14416204
>hyper futuristic
I never got the feeling of it looking that way. Outside of the original 0079 designs, it's the most primitive looking Gundam.

>>14415389
>>14415379
>evolution of a design
The G-Self appeared 500 years after G-Reco, and in that time at some point mobile suit development really rocketed ahead. If everything followed the development speed of MS in the Gryps-Zanscare period then that's a lot of changes and completely new models / manufacturers superceding old ones.
>>
>>14416204
>>14416290
The turn A always looked to me like a giant all powerful stone golem. I get a similar feeling from Gorgs design.
>>
>>14416290
By design philosophy, I'm referring to Mead designing the Turn A with the fact that Turn A was the 20th anniversary of the Gundam series itself, rather than the fictional timeline. 15 years later, Tomino would work on another series, and it would have been nice if they had asked Mead to return and create a further evolution of the iconic RX-78-2.

>The philosophy was that it has to be recognizable to the fans instantly. They hired me to create essentially a new zero base which can now be modified as story time goes on. And the difficult part was you had 20 years of fan memory in your head.
>>
>>14415350
It looks like there's way too much going on when it has its backpack on otherwise it's a good design but not better than the Turn A.
>>
>>14416055
Go home, Nagano.
>>
>>14415355
I want animay to look like that again.
>>
>>14419549
G-Reco's probably the closest we're ever gonna get
>>
>>14419507
the perfect pack is probably the coolest design apart from the atmospheric and torque packs, torque is in a league of its own but the perfect fits the suit design well
>>
>>14419609
Atmospheric Pack's kinda bland isn't it? Torque is absolutely baller though yeah. I personally quite like the Space pack.
>>
>>14419613
Atmospheric is cooler because it adds more red to the design. Space is just blue.

>Torque is absolutely baller
Oh yeah.
>>
>>14415357
Syd Mead's designs are garbage.
>>
I dunno what it is, but the G-self just never stuck with me. I kind of like the big eyes and the horns, but it just kind of came and went without leaving much of an impression on me.

Meanwhile Turn A is pretty much the black sheep of Gundam designs, for better or worse, and really leaves an impression on most people right off the bat.
>>
>>14419623
I understand being put off by the Turn A, since it pushes the definition of what could be considered a "Gundam", but what makes you dislike the Turn X or Sumo? Those are solid designs.
>>
>>14419549
Good looking anime died after Astro Boy 2003.

>>
>>14415350
No.
>>
>>14422707
That looks anorexic as fuck compared to the official design. The monoeye cameras (I think?) on the legs are nice and a rather unique touch though.

The fucking crotch on the other hand reminds me of Black Manta's face mask.
>>
>>14415350
It depends on your preferred aesthetic.

G-self is better if you like all that cutesy shinjuku kawaii stuff, If you think that Miku Hatsune is pretty and well designed, etc

I personally believe that the Turn A is a much classier design. I like the fact that it's simple (unlike contemporary shows) and it has a neat art-deco design. The crotchpit looks great and I think the whole thing is a radical break from Gundam lineage - but in a good way.
>>
>>14429903
>G-self is better if you like all that cutesy shinjuku kawaii stuff, If you think that Miku Hatsune is pretty and well designed, etc
That was a quick generalization, damn.
>>
Colours aside, both are pretty alright. Certainly far better than the usual Gundam trash.
>>
Turn A has pointless star wars style gribbles and panel lines on its chest and limbs. Why must Western designers all do this?
>>
>>14429980

That's not greebling. Those are pouches for his e-caps. And mustache wax.
>>
>>14415350
Overall design is okay but I can't stand it's face.

God this,SO MUCH
I remember like 4 years prior to G-reco's airing and we got a magazine page of this, you do not know how in love I was in with this design.
part of the reason I even watched reco was in hope that this would show up as a midseason upgrade or something.
The G-self is a great design too, but something about this one was really charming to look at.

>>14422962
>That looks anorexic as fuck compared to the official design
one of the main reasons I latched on to it,being that skinny was kinda cool and something we never see in gundam designs
>>
>>14429946
Do you agree with it?

>>
>>14416204
Turn A was a futuristic design, G-reco was more the ne plus ultra of commercial progression, it's weird but fundamentally toyetic. The two different designs fit the message of their series.
>>
>>14415350
I don't understand why people like the G-Self, or G-Reco for that matter.
G-Self looks way too plasticy and looks like something you would see in AGE but without the AGE symbol.

Never seen Gundam X? It's just a high-mobility suit with a knife. It gets fucked by vulcans after being stunned.
>>
>>14433355
I love how it looked in that magazine scan, but the "official" art of it is really off putting for me.
