Why do you think "Zaku" is rendered as "Zack"? Americans hear "Gandamu" and know it's talking about Gundam. So by transposing that logic, "Zaku" must be "Zack".
As to "Noa Bright" apparently they decided japanese naming conventions applied for Bright and only Bright because he was all squinty and shit
