That was exactly the question I was asking myself and it's a pretty hard choice as I wanted both Meiya and the Takemi cards on the second slot.
I think that if you have the chance to get an SSR mech, you should take it and go with a pilot. SSR cards are generally way more powerful than SR ones ( And way harder to get ). If you don't get any SSR mech, then go with whatever you prefer, as SR cards are not that rare and you will probably get one soon enough after the beginning of the game.

Tried to do a ML mod for Civ V but the game appeared to be way less permissive with gameplay mods than Civ IV, and a simple skin is not interesting enough, but I never played an HoI so I don't know how they handle mods.

Probably not. There are two ways writers deal with unexpected villain popularity. Either they double down on their villainy to make the audience hate them, or they make them more anti-heroic. Seeing the way the anime treated her doesn't really do much to assuage me.
Besides, she's the main villain. She appears in all the promo art as the villain, and the poster for Martyrs even shows Theo trying to get his knife into her.

This, really. I'd go further and say that we don't know if she was turned evil, or if she was always evil and the stasi just enabled her. She always showed a lack of compassion or even disregard for human life. I think that her goals become nothing more then an excuse for her actions. She wanted to hurt people, enjoyed it immensely, especially towards anyone tied to Irisdina. She ironically became far worse then the BETA she was so adamant on stopping. In the end, she was simply a fanatic, uncompromising, unsympathetic, and not all that different from the fatalistic towelheads blowing themselves up in the Middle East. The world doesn't need Beatrix's brand of nihilism, it needs brighter tomorrow to look forward to and fight for. It needs someone filled with hope and idealism to revitalize it. It needs someone like Katia.

More like: You upgrade a character to the next stage by sacrificing the exact same character to them (so if it's a common card you can do this easily, but if it's an ultra super super rare then good luck). There are five stages and the portrait changes with each stage with them stripping down. When you reach max level you get the scene.

Anime was good. I liked it's message of good versus evil and hope and idealism. The heroes were sympathetic and likable while the villains were vile and hateable. Yeah, the last time I was this enthusiastic about marathoning a series was Turn A, and that was two years ago. Since then I'd pick up series, watch a few episodes, lose interest, and maybe come back to watch it.
Since then I've been trying to recapture that, for lack of a better word, "honeymoon experience" when I really dove into anime in my senior year. That type of feeling where you're so new to the medium that you'll watch anything, and not be really critical about it. The Stasi did basically have a system of informants that meant on average 1 out of 7 or so East Germans would rat on you to them. And they actually did execute people who tried to flee to West Germany.
Hell, they even funded West German Neo-Nazi groups, and tried to get old Waffen-SS veterans to pay for Eichmann's defense attorney, all so they could claim West Germany was full of Nazi sympathizers for propaganda.
