Got SSR Yui today.
I hope that we get to start rolling for our second card soon, I want that SR Meiya too.
>>14395261
I didn't know how lucky I was, until I saw some anons post that they've rolled 20+ times and didn't even get a SR yet.
Yuuko is fun.
>>14395261
I'd prefer to keep her over Yui desu.
By the way, since we get 5+2 rolls now, people who just joined can get to 150 rolls.
We have 24 days left.
>Roll yesterday
Not the simplest decision
>>14395855
She sure is.
>>14395261
Same here, replaced my SR Fubuki by Kei yesterday. Pretty happy with that, I don't even know if I would change her for Yui ( The Shiranui Second is another question ).
>>14396505
DAMMIT. That was one of the choices I didn't wanted.
So /m/en, any thought ? My choice will probably stay with Kei but I dunno.
>>14396636
Left, I guess.
41 rolls, not a single SSR
These are near FGO rates
>>14396636
Shit man.
2nd slot open WHEN?
>>14396670
You mean SR ? Because SSR are meant to be, like, Super Super Rare, you know.
>>14396678
Middle of the event, so basically around 2nd July or something like that.
Though they will most probably change the entire pool of cards for the second slot.
So, here's the big question. We get two slots, so you choose both SR pilots, Yui as exception. And the 150 rolls reward.
Would you choose to have three rare pilots and whatever mechs you'll roll on release? Or keep at least one SR mech?
>>14396703
That was exactly the question I was asking myself and it's a pretty hard choice as I wanted both Meiya and the Takemi cards on the second slot.
I think that if you have the chance to get an SSR mech, you should take it and go with a pilot. SSR cards are generally way more powerful than SR ones ( And way harder to get ). If you don't get any SSR mech, then go with whatever you prefer, as SR cards are not that rare and you will probably get one soon enough after the beginning of the game.

I don't think Axmann and Beatrix's behavior are route dependent. Besides, who doesn't like no nonsense evil over the top Bond villains?
>>14398567
>Katia who he ends up with at the very end.
Which is why Katia gets NTR'd by Irisdina and then Irisdina's ghost in her own route.
>>14398571
Katia got her happy ending for the most part; her dreams for Germany were realized. She may not have won the boy, but routes don't always have to be romantic. Besides, who's to say that Katia wont be Theo's bridge to healing?

Why does Katia not get to win the boy in her own route, anyway?
Is it because she's explicitly 15? Kinda like how Kasumi didn't get a route in Unlimited at all because she was 16, or Inia in Total Eclipse, and they danced around her actual age in Altered Fable so you could say she was 18?
>>14404868
>Why does Katia not get to win the boy in her own route, anyway?
Because Theo was around people who he'd fall in love with first.
>>14404879
Please, let's stick to the meta rationale behind this move, and not things that could've been easily tweaked writing-wise, such as not forcing me to Iris no matter how many times I chose the Katia options in the VN.
>>14404889
>Please, let's stick to the meta rationale behind this move
Okay. Katia is not popular in Japan.
>>14404901
That's not true, though. Katia is quite popular in Japan, she just doesn't have the zeal of the others. This is even reflected in the West, with Katia doing much, much better in multiple choice polls than single choice ones.
>>14403071
I will need to buy the game to check how things work.
>>14404911
>Katia is quite popular in Japan
More popular than the other girls?
>This is even reflected in the West
As nice as that is, I'm afraid it's irrelevant to the topic at hand.
>>14404934
>>More popular than the other girls?
Overall? I'm not sure, but it seems a safe bet that she's at least equal to them.
>As nice as that is, I'm afraid it's irrelevant to the topic at hand.
No, not really. People comment all the time on the similarities between fanbases tastes. Why should it be any different here? The facts don't lie - Katia has much less of a hatebase compared to other, more polarizing characters.
>>14404948
>Overall? I'm not sure, but it seems a safe bet that she's at least equal to them.
Then I should tell you that she's typically less popular than Gretel.
>No, not really.
Yes, really. As I just stated, as nice as popularity in the west is, it's irrelevant and frankly deflective at this point to continue the line of discourse where popularity in the west is discussing popularity in Japan. The west is not Japan, and I brought up Japan, not the west.
>>14404959
>Then I should tell you that she's typically less popular than Gretel.
Again, that is plainly not true as evidenced from the merchandise where Katia has a very strong focus. Why would they do that if not for her popularity...? You're being a simpleton and only looking at the very barest of details - who's chatting about whom the most, and what single choice polls say - when the unseen, the stuff that you have to pay close attention to, such as the lack of a hatebase, are ignored. If you continue this, I see no point in continuing to 'discuss' this with you because you're moving the subject away from the discussion about why she didn't have a route and moving into your own petty whining about her.
Wrong again. There are enough similarities between them in other instances that I feel it's relevant to point out the West has a similar problem as Japan, where Katia does not do very well in single choice polls at all.
Best nep
>>14404971
>Again, that is plainly not true as evidenced from the merchandise where Katia has a very strong focus. Why would they do that if not for her popularity...?
Then go compare her popularity to the other girls.
>You're being a simpleton
Not an argument.
>when the unseen, the stuff that you have to pay close attention to, such as the lack of a hatebase, are ignored.
Katiafans were hated when the anime was airing, because they were obnoxious.
>If you continue this, I see no point in continuing to 'discuss' this with you because you're moving the subject away from the discussion
This discussion is about meta reasons on why Katia did not have a route. Japan is extremely relevant to this and it is facetious to imply they aren't.
>about why she didn't have a route and moving into your own petty whining about her.
My petty whining? Pot furiously calling the kettle black.
>Wrong again. There are enough similarities between them in other instances that I feel it's relevant to point out the West has a similar problem as Japan, where Katia does not do very well in single choice polls at all.
Stop deflecting the discussion the west, son.
>>14404996
>Then go compare her popularity to the other girls.
I already did.
>Not an argument.
Take your Molyneux memes and get out.
>Katiafans were hated when the anime was airing, because they were obnoxious.
Not by much, and that certainly says nothing whatsoever about Katia herself. Nice argument, bozo.
>This discussion is about meta reasons on why Katia did not have a route. Japan is extremely relevant to this and it is facetious to imply they aren't.
It's actually about why she doesn't have a proper route. Who said I was implying otherwise? I'm using a correlation between East and West.
>My petty whining? Pot furiously calling the kettle black.
Please practice what you preach, the hypocritical idioms suit you well but aren't a means of actual argumentation.
>Stop deflecting the discussion the west, son.
Yeah, you're not worth it. All you could do was be a simple-minded fool and cry about how the West wasn't relevant, that this correlation has no business here, etc.
>>14404868
So, ignoring that other idiot, I'd like somebody to talk about this and offer their own theories.
>>14405083
>I already did.
You claimed "I'm not sure". That's not what I would call actually comparing.
>Take your Molyneux memes and get out.
That'd be a fair point if insults were an actual argument, no?
>Not by much, and that certainly says nothing whatsoever about Katia herself. Nice argument, bozo.
You clearly weren't here then. Nice insult! Who's the one doing petty whining again?
>It's actually about why she doesn't have a proper route.
Then let's get to the bottom of it, friend. Or what I'd like to say, but you've performed a whole lot of name-calling.
>Please practice what you preach, the hypocritical idioms suit you well but aren't a means of actual argumentation.
I'm sorry? It wasn't an argument. Nor was it a counterargument. I merely pointed out the hypocrisy in your intellectually dishonest posts. Now while I know as an adult that no one in the world isn't hypocritical, when one starts up a discussion and either subconsciously or intentionally devolves it into a "see who can piss harder" contest, it only serves to undermine any position they could have taken. Please note that I'm fairly certain you came in here a week ago and claimed you had a right to be angry, so I'm merely curious as to how you can continue to post about petty whining and then do nothing to actually discuss the topic that you're upset about, and instead continue to use ad hominems and insults.
>Yeah, you're not worth it. All you could do was be a simple-minded fool and cry about how the West wasn't relevant, that this correlation has no business here, etc.
Incredible. We have yet to have actually discuss any meta reasons and have successfully degenerated into a back and forth situation where nothing will be actually accomplished. If I'm not worth it in your mind, and remember you are saying this after doing little more than what amounts to insulting the other party because they said something that's not in line with your thinking, why are you continuing?
>>14404868
>Why does Katia not get to win the boy in her own route, anyway?

>Katia is quite popular in Japan, she just doesn't have the zeal of the others.
> she doesn't have the zeal of the others

You kind of refuted your argument there. Yeah, she's not hated, but that's not enough to be marketable. People don't feel strongly about her and she's forgettable compared to the much more controversial figures despite getting the second most screen time after Theo.
>>14398702
>>14398712
They're both great, and considering Beatrix's popularity in Japan theres a chance things might turn out better for her by the end of Lise's route. I know this is age were talking about but Beatrix has been topping polls for a long time now, I'd be surprised if she didn't get much to show for it in the VN.
>>14405418
>Beatrix's popularity in Japan theres a chance things might turn out better for her by the end of Lise's route.
Probably not. There are two ways writers deal with unexpected villain popularity. Either they double down on their villainy to make the audience hate them, or they make them more anti-heroic. Seeing the way the anime treated her doesn't really do much to assuage me.
Besides, she's the main villain. She appears in all the promo art as the villain, and the poster for Martyrs even shows Theo trying to get his knife into her.
>>14405707
>Seeing the way the anime treated her doesn't really do much to assuage me.
She got BiS as well. They already used her to personify the system, why not make her the example of "no matter what the your original intentions, trying to use evil only turns you evil in the end"? It retains the tragic, moralistic and "she has to be killed" angles.
>>14405829
"no matter what the your original intentions, trying to use evil only turns you evil in the end"
This, really. I'd go further and say that we don't know if she was turned evil, or if she was always evil and the stasi just enabled her. She always showed a lack of compassion or even disregard for human life. I think that her goals become nothing more then an excuse for her actions. She wanted to hurt people, enjoyed it immensely, especially towards anyone tied to Irisdina. She ironically became far worse then the BETA she was so adamant on stopping. In the end, she was simply a fanatic, uncompromising, unsympathetic, and not all that different from the fatalistic towelheads blowing themselves up in the Middle East. The world doesn't need Beatrix's brand of nihilism, it needs brighter tomorrow to look forward to and fight for. It needs someone filled with hope and idealism to revitalize it. It needs someone like Katia.
>>14405892
>. I'd go further and say that we don't know if she was turned evil, or [...]
Despite the fact that the rest of her comment makes your interpretation very clear, the damned towelheads managed to push back the BETA for a while. The issue always was, is giving people hope more important than delivering concrete results?
Operation 21 managed to do both, but before that point one could only do one or the other.
>>14405924
You won't achieve anything if you don't have hope to inspire people.
>>14405940
"There is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage than the creation of a new system.
For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old system and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new one."
East Germany fell like 6 months after the Stasi got chomped by moderates.
>>14405956
East Germany had been dying for a long time before the start of the story. The best they could do is try to save as many people as possible before the end. Standing and fighting against the BETA would have accomplished nothing. The stasi were fearful that any change would dethrone them, so they prolonged the situation to maintain power. For them, if they lost millions, it was worth it to hold onto power for another day. When the powers that be are so selfish that their own continued comfort that they would willingly steer the country to doom, then that is the time for revolution.
>>14405940
>You won't achieve anything if you don't have hope to inspire people.
Tangible results are independent of feelings. Sure a completely demoralized populace is little better than machines, but we are talking about extinction on the one hand and whatever it takes to prevent it on the other. Would it be better to preserve both "humanity" (I meaning here the first three of Merriam-Webster's definitions(and mankind (meaning Humans as a species). Sure. But when you have to choose, as long as there are people alive, its doesn't matter how they feel.
>>14405991
>Standing and fighting against the BETA would have accomplished nothing.
>When the powers that be are so selfish that their own continued comfort that they would willingly steer the country to doom, then that is the time for revolution.
East Germany could have bought around ten years for the rest of Europe, easily. No state can survive perpetual warfare, however, a drastic change in government from people who have years of experience in managing the affairs of the state most certainly certified the death of a dying state.

*shrugs* Eh. It's just a game. And I can always look for CG on the net.
Seeing how this game is nearing it release I'm curious about something.
Does anyone can confirm or deny that there will be a player character in this game? Will there be a pre-made model/picture for male or female PC? Or player will be like Admiral in Kancolle?
Is Yui supposed to be a bad pilot, because throughout TE she is constantly losing, needing to be saved when she fights, and just does a really bad job at piloting in general?
>>14410602
Japanese writers are misogynist that can't help themselves from making badass female character to be helpless damsels that needs to be saved by a male. In TE case it's Yuuya Bridges.
I'm kidding. Kinda. I think it's matter of specialization. IMHO, Yui is one of the best pilots out there. But her talents are more focused on commanding, tactics and engineering instead being ultimate solo fighting machine like Yuuya.
>>14410602
The anime removed a few of her big important solo fights.

>>14412184
You probably must max out her heart meter by taking girls/boy on a lot of missions. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA are you new to this stuff?
More like: You upgrade a character to the next stage by sacrificing the exact same character to them (so if it's a common card you can do this easily, but if it's an ultra super super rare then good luck). There are five stages and the portrait changes with each stage with them stripping down. When you reach max level you get the scene.

>With the collapse of the Oder-Neisse Line earlier that year, and the fall of Berlin shortly after, West Germany was forced to open its doors to the fleeing refugees of East Germany, dedicating its own military fully to an evacuation of the West German populace. However, due to the chaotic nature of this quagmire, and the lack of readily available ships to move millions, the entire evacuation was a slow but necessary process.

Still, the situation was getting grimmer; the living conditions of the refugees, and the city in general, had been deteriorating rapidly, and the shortage of power, food, water, and combined with the animosity that still existed between the citizens of West Germany and East Germany, things only seem to be rolling down hill.
>As Americans soldiers, they had seen Hamburg in its darkest times in history from the sidelines, they had witnessed the people of city committing unspeakable horrors and atrocities to secure an earlier 'ticket' to secure passage for themselves and their families. Cases where women would sell their own bodies just to get by and secure a pass to safety were quite common.

Reposting to show how ridiculous this is:
>Hamburg to England is about 350 miles. If we assume a large cargo vessel can maintain a speed of 22 knots more or less forever (they can, and fuel is loaded while people are boarding), then the Large Cargo Vessel needs just under sixteen hours to move a load of people to England.
>Now, a small-to-medium-sized cargo vessel can carry 5,000 containers. Human smugglers have fit 35 in one. This is an abstraction; we'll round down to 25 for margin.
>5000*25 = 125000 people per boat-trip = 496 boat-trips to evac 62 million people, 500 bt for margin, assuming no Post-panamax ships.
>The Port Of Hamburg maintains about 38 dedicated heavy cargo berths, along with 300-odd smaller and other-focused berths. We'll assume Total Mobilization and round up to 50 equivalents.
>Loading and unloading time for large cargo ships is apparently a MUCH more complicated topic, but based on some numbers for a ship of slightly more than twice our reference size at a number of ports with literately anything you might imagine as cargo, 12.5 hours seems about 'typical' for a ship of that size. Our reference vessel is much smaller and people are lighter than iron ore, though, so we'll say 8 hours on either end for loading and unloading.
>This means one boat can complete one trip in 32 hours, or 1.5 days, and Hamburg can launch up to 150 Boat-trips a day. Referencing Bake the Ememies, the Based Pit Masters were in Hamburg for one week before the BETA showed up. Assuming at least one week was therefor available for evacuation, Hamburg could launch more than 700 boat-trips in that time, and only 100 ships would be needed to move everyone in that time frame.
>The fact that they didn't can be chalked up to panic-induced inefficiency, but we know the Pit Masters held at least until every Refugee Ship had launched, so it would be conceivable that the 54th Attack Squadron covered for the ENTIRE German population during the Defense Of Hamburg.
>>14429889
>I always thought breaking Lise was more of a group effort
Well you thought wrong. Protip: The anime is literally Watanabe's viewpoint on Katia's route (The LN). He has stated and I'm sure someone can find where that he made the "heroes" more heroic.
Point is, using the anime as a basis for literally any of the characters, including Katia, is for memers.

Is this mouthbreathing hour? Not even mentioning the fact there is material right now that you, yes you, can go and read that'll set the score straight, why would people who also read it lie? I won't say it's been 100%, since biased opinions are a dime a dozen, but the only way I can see how you can continue this shit is if you are choosing not to read the content.

>>14430340
What justifications did he give?
>>14430349
>– This story has the deadly fight against the alien BETA, but at the same time there are political elements mixed in, and it’s a very serious atmosphere. How did you try to portray this atmosphere?
>Watanabe: This is historical fiction, so for places like the Soviet Union and West and East Germany, we based them off their real-life counterparts to a certain extent. It was a very challenging project. There were areas where we wondered if it was OK to do this. After getting involved in this project, I learned that the Stasi (East German secret police) that appears in the story was a real organization. They did some truly horrific things. There are people who really did suffer. When I thought about that, I was very concerned about how we should go about portraying this.
>>14430370
In a rudimentary nutshell he had to cut out a lot of fat such as characterization and made things black and white so there's less time spent on explaining or showing any actual depth and more time on Katia and fights.
It's weird since he said they chose Irisdina to focus on as a heroine yet she got shafted the hardest.
Next we learn the anime/LN are "canon". Really, the whole thing is a shitshow.
>>14430421
>It's weird since he said they chose Irisdina to focus on as a heroine yet she got shafted the hardest.
To explain a little more,
>– Please tell us what aspects of characters like Theodor and Irisdina you paid attention to in portraying them.
>For Theodor, I wondered if it was possible to portray him as a protagonist-like protagonist. It’s a standard story for a protagonist to revive after suffering setbacks, but lately it’s uncommon to see a character like Theodor have his setbacks portrayed this way. As for Irisdina, I wanted her to be like Maetel from Galaxy Express 999, somebody that Theodor and Katia could look up to.
I guess he interpreted that as Irisdina being a background role model only to progress what little plot is still there.
>>14427173

>>14430421
He still couldn't keep it consistent. The way the anime treats certain characters like Lise is schizophrenic, then there's the issue of attempting to make Beatrix absolutely wrong while putting Katia's idealism on a pedestal when Beatrix is the only one with a plan (not to mention Beatrix's motivations aren't consistent at all with her personality and behavior). The happy ending of a sunny German countryside is also ridiculous if you know about background material.
This anime is absolutely insulting. I could barely stomach the final battle, with the hopeful theme music playing over Katia's speech.

Anime was good. I liked it's message of good versus evil and hope and idealism. The heroes were sympathetic and likable while the villains were vile and hateable. Yeah, the last time I was this enthusiastic about marathoning a series was Turn A, and that was two years ago. Since then I'd pick up series, watch a few episodes, lose interest, and maybe come back to watch it.
Since then I've been trying to recapture that, for lack of a better word, "honeymoon experience" when I really dove into anime in my senior year. That type of feeling where you're so new to the medium that you'll watch anything, and not be really critical about it. Don't know if that makes sense, but it feels like since I started coming to here and /a/, I got really critical about the stuff I watch to the point where I couldn't enjoy it anymore.
more TDA when?
>>14430772
I have no idea what the translation status is.
Also, the funny part is, the LN and VN are way, way more nuanced than the anime, especially with the BiS prequel LN where a teenaged, pre-Stasi Beatrix is the heroine. Yes, that's right, Beatrix as a heroine.

If you've seen Zeta's Titans, or 00's A-Laws, the Stasi don't stand out too terribly. Though Schwarzesmarken got me to do some reading over the actual Stasi. Like hot damn, that'd be an impressive system they had if it wasn't so horrifying.
>>14431056
The Titans were more likable and human then the stasi, who live, breath, and can be nothing else but, evil
>>14431074
Yeah, the stasi pretty much have the depth of pic related. It's like they want to destroy East Germany, torture the heroes, and kill millions for no reason.
It's one of the biggest failings of SM in my mind, and why the story will always belong in the trash.
>>14429889
Although the anime was pretty vague on it chalking it up to "torture and brainwashing" from what I remember to explain what made Lise the cold, untrusting, bipolar, nihilistic mess she was in the present time the other SM material makes it very clear who was messing her up.
As for the rest of the conversation in this thread, aside from the fact that differences are inevitable in any adaption of a story from one form of media to another, like book to screen, there were also intentionally made differences in this case in particular. The characters may look the same and have the same names but it would be wise to do what the nips do and treat the the different versions as what they are, separate. Anime is anime and original is original.
>>14431074
Just A-Laws tier then, because I can't remember anyone who was actually part of the A-Laws that wasn't a despicable ass.

>>14431118
>If you want to see the stasi get some depth, you're gonna get it.
There really wasn't much depth to them IRL. SM got hit the nail on the head in its portrayal of communism.
>>14431186
Yeah, I don't actually think the story embellishes Heinze's and Beatrix's cruelty all that much. The stasi really were a bunch of sick fucks, just like every other scumbag in every other Warsaw Pact country that worked for local regimes.
>>14431173
Theres a good chance the Lise route will have more to do with what Pham said about "saving her from her twisted feelings" and restoring her faith in humanity or something along those lines but until Martyrs gets a trailer theres no way to know whats gonna happen at this point.
>>14431186
If what the anime did is an accurate representation of the real Stasi then the LN treats them better than they deserve, but the point is they're perspective and reasoning is more fleshed out.
>>14431224
Do you think we'll get Lise killing Axmann or Beatrix in her route?
>>14431244
I hope Lise killing Axmann for catharsis sake but it'll probably be Theo doing the final blows on both Stasi since he's the "hero". Still better than Iris headshotting him although at least that had some revenge elements too since he made her shoot her brother.
>>14431224
The Stasi did basically have a system of informants that meant on average 1 out of 7 or so East Germans would rat on you to them. And they actually did execute people who tried to flee to West Germany.
Hell, they even funded West German Neo-Nazi groups, and tried to get old Waffen-SS veterans to pay for Eichmann's defense attorney, all so they could claim West Germany was full of Nazi sympathizers for propaganda.
Simon Wiesenthal (Holocaust survivor who went on to become a Nazi hunter) considered the Stasi to be more evil and capable than the Gestapo.
>>14431256
Penetration was pretty damn satisfying to see in the anime, but I always get the feeling that Beatrix and Theo were pretty mismatched. Granted, Beatrix was the one who had been pretty much manipulating everything that happened, but they don't foil off of one another like a good hero-villain pair should. Theo should take down Axmann, and Lise should kill Beatrix in Lise's route. That way, they both get their revenge.
>>14431275
The stasi are worse then the Nazis.
Feels good knowing that almost the whole stasi organization down to its footsoldiers were annihilated when Katia took power. They don't deserve the mercy they got in our world.
>>14431309
>They don't deserve the mercy they got in our world.
I wonder how many Stasi members are in the current government now, since it looks like they only went after the ones who were at the very top.
>>14431287
Are you sure? It was Heinz "grey beast" Axmann that personally oversaw Lise's torture in the LN unless they retcon that too, so that seems like the more personal vendetta than Lise vs Beatrix.
>>14431224

>>14431309

>>14430879
Giving Beatrix a prequel is like trying to put lipstick on a pig. No matter how "sad" they try to make her story, it doesn't change who she is, or that she enjoys doing what she does.
>>14431335
He tortured Theo too. Beatrix has history with Lise, so there would be more net catharsis from Theo killing Axmann and Lise killing Beatrix.
>>14431352

Or they decided to put in red alert tier stuff, just for grim dark.

>>14433221
Additionally, the prereg gacha will use the same prize list for slot 1 and slot 2, so basically, roll Yui in one slot and Shiranui Type 2 in the other for best results.

How many coins do you guys think it will take to roll the lotto? If you get 1 attempt for each coin then you'll have a pretty good chance of getting the best prizes as SSR cards usually have a 1% chance of appearing.
>>14433437
im thinking more like 10 coins per roll
>>14433437
Well, they are talking about different quantity rolls, I think.
And that you'll be able to get a lot of gacha coins by spending a hundred on lotto
