It's pretty obvious that Okada was heavily reigned in to the point of why even bother having her there. At least there would be entertainment value in the resulting melodrama.
Plus there was that list of rejected plot points that she made that the director turned down that included stuff like Eugene betraying them to join the chocolate man instead of Hitler, the Turbines betraying them, stuff that would have resulted in an actual plot more than barely having one.

Cancellation
Orga keeps pushing Tekkadan into big risk situations due to Mika's influence, which leads to losses that outweigh the profits. Like, enough kids start dying Orga begins to want playing it safer, which causes a rift between him and Mika. In the end, Orga has to put a bullet in Mika like either a mad dog or because Mika's body is ruined due to AV usage. And the show makes it a point that someone like Mika has no place chance for a normal life.

True but have Norba be smitten by a human debris prostitute with a heartbreaking past and a refusal to go to Naze's shelter because Naze reminds her of the upper class men who makes up lies about how they care about women and Norba gets in her good graces and tits and tells her he wants to get her out of the prostitution life. If played for depression or yaoi crack pairing with Yamagi she dies being a pilot fighting Shino. If done to show hope in IBO she is moved and finally frees herself and asks Norba to be a true Tekkadan pilot.
It is also great for developing Norbas lackluster skills after spending season one nearly getting killed by every time he pilots a suit

Guess I'm not part of the hive mind anymore. Just marathoned Ibo and it wasn't awful at all. Outside of ova and movies it's the only series I've bothered to finish an entire season of in years.
It did have shitty pacing issues, but I'll take slow episodes in space over some annoying school hijinks or whatever the fuck is popular at the moment in anime.
Plus, series gets resect for having the goddamn kimaris in it. Such a great design.
I'm actually looking forward to s2 because season one, warts and all, set the stage for some big stuff.
Final battle to be Mina vs Orga in a former best friends turned greatest rivals due to circumstances.

First off, it's shit and we raged about it most of the show, starting at the space arc.
LONG LOST BROTHERS, exposition and then repeating the exposition in case you didn't get it the first time, QUALITY fights, QUALITY everything, the first instance of QUALITY Atra (even the japs meme'd hard on that one), pedophile birdman, are we there yet, The Show Without Robots, sugoi kudelia Suuuugoi kudelia-san, Mobile Suit Grazes ft grazes and graze customs and also a gundam, wacky dino-saw, rare Guison, terrorism, atra gets eaten by a dingo, and overall general feelings of disappointment. It was not a fun show to watch weekly.
