Is it worth it to watch nadesico in 1080p? Or is 720 good for the blu rays.

well it's a show from 1997 so there's only so much you can really expect from a remaster or upscale. For what it's worth though I got the 720 release and it looks great

Is that a raw pic from the BD? It looks like crap. Just grab the 720p version.

The fuck am I reading

Anon, please don't be an idiot. It has a huge amount to gain from remastering, precisely because it's from the final years of cel-composited animation. Because it was recorded on actual film, they can rescan the show into a higher resolution, rather than simply upscaling their existing video files.

I wonder the same.
Anyone knows if Nadesico was shoot on 16mm or 32mm film?
>>14370970
Looks like 16mm. It's not worth 1080p.

no it's just a picture from google.

I don't think you can put a = between those two things. At least not generally.

Get the 1080p. Besides, it's 2016 - The entire download for IB's 1080p is hardly anything compared to the cheap prices of storage media in non-shithole countries.

Actually it really depends on what specs OP's computer has.
I mean sure you can watch 1080p with VLC mediaplayer but that's like watching the DVDs.
1080p in MPC-BE with madVR on medium settings however requires a capable GPU.

Good point. I lost a laptop to "the power of 10-bit anime" a few years ago. Horrible days.

Yeah I have a toaster that can do 720p with OK settings without dropping frames. But 1080p and it starts to smoke.
BDs are the only thing I ever bother with 1080p for. Everything else 720 is fine, I don't need 1080 for a tv release
