Just started watching this show and slowly working my way up the UC timeline (minus X and V since i already watched those)
Im going to hate Beltrochika aren't i?
And what happened to the other 2 MK.IIs? One lost a leg and the other got it's arm replaced. Just give Amuro one of those spare Gundams.
Also, should i skip ZZ and go straight to CCA?
I keep hearing it doesn't really add much.

ZZ is very uneven and frankly hit and miss for most people.
Initial episodes of slapstick comedy created a powerful mood whiplash against the finale of Zeta, past Ep.20 or so it gets better.
It's no Zeta, that's for sure - but IMO, you should watch, if only to know what's the deal with the hate. You'll also learn the endings for several characters and why certain people disappear between Z and CCA, never to be heard of again.

Yes, but neither does CCA. ZZ is barely canon anyway. All you need to know is thatpink-haired psycho-bitch you see in Zeta leads a third Zeon uprising and Hayato dies. None of it affects anything that happens later on in CCA or 0096.

I never really understood the hate for Beltrochika. She's obviously there as a satellite character for Amuro's development, and to explain why Amuro doesn't want to leave the Earth Sphere. No. Don't be one of those assholes who repeats "____ is bad" without watching it just because /m/ said so. Watch everything and form your own opinion. Be prepared for the fact that everyone acts REALLY high for the first ten episodes or so, but after that it returns to form when they leave and go out into space.
(my personal headcanon is that there's something wrong with the air in that one colony that causes everyone to act doped-up all the time)

Zz's beginning is terrible. Just skip to like ep 20 or something when they are in africa, it becomes watchable then. Read a summary of the first eps. Actually all you need to know is theres a new rag tag group of shit kids that can all just pilot gundams for no good reason.

Char/Quattro was totally outclassed by Haman, not to mention the Hyaku Shiki was a fairly weak design. This is the best part of Yazan. People act like he's all villainous and awful, but he's probably the singlemost morally straight and professional character in the entire franchise. Even despite being a One Year War veteran, he never let the nonsense the was driving everyone else nuts get to him to the very end. This is all reflected in how he got to live such a long and normal life much unlike almost anyone else in the Gryps Conflict aside from the 3 people who were actually on the same page as him. Yazan is the true hero of the Universal Century.

Everyone places such high expectations on budding psychics that they'll pave the way and such that newtypes forget that they're only human and value their existence and powers more than their efforts. Yazzan really genuinely enjoyed killing enemy combatants, and his demenear was villainous, but he outright refused to attack civilians ( imagine if Jerid tried to pull that shit ?) and his commanders didn't do anything to try to force him. He was also probably the best pilot in Zeta as far as natural skill goes.

To be honest, this sounds like a genius idea. It was probably silly in ZZ, but if you got a really strong rope it'd be like the ultimate weapon in anti mobile suit guerilla warfare. I always wondered how mobile suits and other mecha fought in areas with lots of power lines without getting tangled up.

Not OP but I had just finished the last episode of zeta. Man, scirocco gave kamille some good parting away gift.I guess I continue CCA and unicorn when I got the time. Hell, it took me 6 months on and off to finish zeta.
