Also, having a good boss monster is only half the equation, its support is just as important since the Grade 1s and 2s can also help push the deck into Tier 1 (ie. Victor)

The answer is in the field spell.
Super Quants are first and foremost a summon engine, you're intended to pop them onto the field or into the graveyard and use their effects to get more (Blue Layer is a searcher that can pull any Super Quant card, Fairy Alphan - their support - pulls one of each from the deck and puts two in the grave and one on the field). They're not the most threatening mass summon engine ever, but they work fairly well because you only need three of them.
The field spell changes everything. Discard a card and you can XYZ summon with just one material, meaning you can get all three XYZ on the field quickly. And once you do, you can discard the field spell to pop everything onto a Great Magnus, and Great Magnus with six materials is a horrifying threatthat's hard countered by Kaiju.
There's also a trap equip that gives 100x the Rank for any XYZ it's equipped to, gives them Pierce, and if you discard it they get two extra attacks - even if they used their first one. It's an OTK enabler on Great Magnus, but it's difficult to use so no one really runs more than one.

I think Link Joker is rad as fuck, even if edgy. I loved playing them on the 3DS games because the AI always let Mobious Breath hit and I got to lock somethihng every single time he was the G2 vanguard. Reverse units were also neat.

Too be fair, almost everything gets hard countered by Kaiju simply because you can summon one to your opponents field by tributing one of their monsters. Since tribute is about the only thing that gets through immunity to card effects, if you aren't preventing tributes or special summons from occurring Kaiju can simply sacrifice your big scary "immune to everything and can negate anything" boss monster and give you a Kaiju that, for you, is just a glorified beat stick. If your opponent is actually running a Kaiju deck rather than just splashing in a Kaiju for removal purposes, then you might be able to activate the other effects of the kaiju you were forcibly given.
Super Quantums are fun as fuck though.

Arc-V started biting off more than it could chew when it decided it wanted to do a big war. The idea of each faction having grunts with "mass produced" decks was neat but it got really old really fast, especially when they repeat the same basic duel format whenever someone gets ganged up on.
And part of the problem is that the overwhelming majority of the Lancers aren't doing anything. Whenever Sawatari or Gongenzaka duel, they job off-screen. In the off chance Reiji or Tsukikage duel, it lasts about two turns.
And they keep tossing new boss monsters to Yuya every three duels or so, that none of them really have any dramatic weight behind them.
The tipping point was losing a chance of finally seeing Superheavy Samurai and Abyss Actor get a day of spotlight. Instead we get a tag duel with Yuya and Kurosaki where they didn't even show off anything new.
Followed by another one the very next episode. Because apparently we haven't seen Rise Falcon and Odd-Eyes enough.

Jesus Fudo was literally an Atem expy without either the class or character, at least Atem just topdecked but still got rekt at times, Jesus Fudo straight up created cards from nothing and never fucking lost a battle, same thing with Jack being basically an anthropomorphized BEWD and a walking parody of Kaiba, they're empty imitations of the original DM characters.

I'd put a mulligan on Savior Dragon since it was used rather sparingly and topdecking is done by all main characters. GX even had multiple episodes establishing it is both a skill one can train to get better at, and something you can make a deal with the devil to improve.
I don't think topdecking is as much a cardinal sin as just creating new cards out of thin air that just happen to be the perfect thing that the protag needs to get out of a specific scenario and then are never used again like ZW and most of the Odd-Eyes variants.
