Only if it's part of some longer term, someone might actually call the chiefs mess "CPO Mess" and there's a common event called "CPO 365" but you would never actually call a chief "CPO".
Even using their last name when it's someone you're remotely familiar with or when they're the only chief present is a little odd and referring to people by their rank when you're of equivalent rank is unusual as well unless you're in front of a bunch of junior personnel.
He should have just said "Chief Daryl." or just "Chief."

Its like Ocean used to do. I think after these guys a get a few under their belts they'll have it figured out. Towards the end of Ocean's dubs of Gundam they had it down to a science, but you go back to wing and its embarrassing. Same thing here
