I think one of the show's shortcomings is that MC didn't visibly like any of the girls beyond fapping to Titan Tits and protecting muh hime-sama. Harem expanded too quickly and seemingly pointlessly.

Yeah, the harem elements annoyed me too. Especially since the shows nature (it's based on over the top 80's action shows and movies) means that there's a reset button at the end of every arc and you barely see any of the other characters aside from the main 4 appear again.
