***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Ended up going with the MG Buster instead of SF, was too tired and I felt like building something "less", and I haven't gotten the gold colour yet.
Really sexy though.

I thought you guys might be the ones to ask, i brought a lot of a load of random robot stuff from mandarake auctions and it came with these, are they good models?
Is there any primer that comes bottled like Tamiya acrylics for airbrushing? Or do I have to use spray cans?
>>14340047
When was this auction? How did I miss those? What else did they come with?
>>14340072
It was in the 1 yen auctions they are doing, it came with a couple gba games, a few godzilla little statues and these too
>>14339943
Going through the backlog. Finished the G-Self Perfect Pack and just assembled the frame, feet and head of HG Barbatos.
>>14340047

I see your point. Anyway with them unpainted it matches better with the aesthetic it has now, like the front "vents" of the legs, or the yellow chest vents.
Ordered some Gunpla from Japan.
It's just below £15
They've gone and fucking set it above £15 or exacly £15 so now I have to pay import and customs tax...
... I'm tempted to just refuse the parcel and then do a chargeback with Paypal..
I order because it's cheaper and it won't be if I got charged another £15 on top of this!
>>14340519
You should immigrate to America. We don't pay import fees and custom taxes. I buy literally hundreds of dollars worth of gunpla and gunpla accessories at a time and not ever once has my package been seized by customs and held ransom. I only use EMS and my packages all arrive within four days. Sometimes as soon as three!
It's 2016 anon. Stop living in Nazi Germany and join the winning side.
Im searching for gunpla kit that closely resemble pic related.
Any suggestion /m/?
>>14340562

>>14340562
Maybe one of the Armored Core plamo?
>>14340632
Yea i know, thats why i asked for "closely resemble" one, not "exacly like" one.
>>14340562
You could probably kitbash something like that with some Muv Luv and Armored Core kits. Maybe some SEED designs as well.
Took a break from gunpla for a year, has anything interesting happened? Any exceptional kits, and has P-Bandai excessiveness gotten better or worse?
>>14340643
And like I said, does not exist.
HGUC EFF Hi-Zack was better than I anticipated. It also has a peg-hole for an action base. Pleasant surprise, considering the age.
>>14340647
>P-Bandai Barbatos all armors only comes with 2 frames
>P-Bandai HG Revive Launcher Impulse
>HGUC #200 is Hyaku Shiki Revive

Don't think you missed much, but Bandai is still nepotistic and xenophobic with P-Bandai releases, as always.
But what is next RG?
>>14340688
RG Sazabi using the RG Sinanju's movable frame
Thinking of a color scheme for HG Barbatos. I'm thinking about black and red or black and gold. What do you think anons?
>>14340699

>>14340700

>>14340699

>>14340736
It's not just the black, the red and gold make it out to be Shadow the Gundam.
Maybe if the red was replaced with a navy blue, the gold would compliment it more. Or the black made a little lighter of a grey shade, so that it doesn't so the stark Shadow the Hedgehog edge look. But Red Black and Gold, by itself, is EDGE/10.

I've heard mixed things about it, and that its taller than it should be to make it all work. And yes, WoL are P-bandai. It looks cool at least though.
>>14340298
That actually looks really damn good. Nice job, anon.
>>14340483
This is probably bait but in the off-chance that you're actually serious, no.
>>14340891
You should also mention super glue won't work either.
So does anyone here even use custom decals? Things like the Ace Combat emblems or even personal emblems like Amuro's stylized A or Char's... Stylized A with an eagle in the middle.
>>14339993
I have it, I like it a lot, is there anything you want to know about it specifically?
>>14340905
I think custom decals are cool. I use 'em when I can.
I really want to come up with my own custom decal designs to put on a GM squad I'm working on, sucks that not at all imaginative or creative enough to make some up.
Newfag here, is there gonna be another Gunpla/Hobby expo again this year?
I was waiting for them to release a RE:1/100 Kshatriya this year but apparently I got my newfag ass lied to by Gundamguy.
>>14339943

I asked in another thread cause it was topical, but I should probably ask here.

RG Destiny
It's taking a long fucking time.
>>14340938
There are a couple gunpla expos a year held in different locations. Its a regular thing.
And yes, gundamguy just shotguns popular theories as fact in the hope that one of them turns out to be right as click bait.
How'd I do?
>>14340924
Well can't go wrong with stylized initials of the suit's particular pilot, or if it's a squadron related emblem, doing a "# Star" where # is the number of MSes in the squad.
Or you can borrow from other sources. Ace Combat was one I mentioned. Or you could go full MLG Pro and slap a Rockstar or Monster energy drink logo on your miniature giant space robot.
My current setup
>>14340955
Great. It has the same level of engineering and detail as a good chunk of the mg kits released after 2000 and is about the same price. Doesn't have internal frame but blows the mg gp01 and mg gp02 outrof the water
I know this kit is old news now, but I figured I might as well share since I got a new phone with a far better camera.
>>14341009
>>14341021
did you buy the GoL resin conversion kit?
>Astaroth Origin
Bandai are you shitting me right now?
>>14341180
Is there such a thing, I couldn't find anything on ebay.
No, I just bought the old 1/100 HG Altron and slapped the pack on it.
I have to say though it really hampers the poseability.
>>14341201
Model Legend just released an Altron conversion for the Shenlong with the GoL backpack funny enough.
Ready for more Puru Puruing?
>>14341225
>>14341219
So, we're at three Quebely variants, now? White, Red, and Navy?
>>14341195
>the shoulders are a flight module
So, gotta admit, it still looks retarded, but at least they aren't swords.
>>14341219
>>14341225
Nice, I was wondering if they would make a Revive of the Mk.II.
Mass Production when?
Who else is pumped for this beast?
My gn archer build yielded some strange results.
>>14339922
This is horrible...
>>14341300
Strictly speaking, it's not a Mk. II, just a recolor. Tailbinder shows ten funnels while the Mk. II has twelve. You can clearly see one of the missing hardpoints covered up in the first picture.
As for the MP version, there's no way they'll fit 30 funnels on that binder. If they tried to, the binder would become oversized and the funnels would still be ridiculously small. The new cannons are probably doable, but I just figure they wouldn't bother with the MP.
>>14341317
I'm interested, but I'm definitely waiting to see a video review. RG Sinanju, on the other hand, was an instant buy.
Psyco-Zaku should also be pretty interesting.
>>14341333
>re-color a kit
>call it something else
BRAVO BANDAI
The HGUC Asshimar is an absolute marvel. Perfect in every way.
They could have easily made this a parts-former but the think-tanks at Bandai were like 'Naaah!'
Smooth, flawless transformations with a stand that, like the Messala, holds the extra parts. Brilliant.
>>14341355
Only difference between the Mk.II and Mk.I is an extra pair of funnels, not a significant different. Not like the kit even came with a funnel stand.
>>14341355
>99% of people won't even notice the difference.
>>14340298
damn that looks fuckin sweet, nice work man
>>14341195
Is it only me that likes this?
Still have a bit of cleaning up to do on it, but my Graze collection grows once more.
>>14341453
I like it too. Don't understand the hate.
>>14340176
H-HAYAI!!
>>14340887
Don't forget no V2 A or B.
>>14341219
>>14341225
That looks really good.
How is the revive Qubeley? Dalong shows it having similar articulation to the MG, though with much more flexible wing binders.
>>14340013
Reminds me of those old 3 inch gundam toys they used to sell at target. I still have the fucked up RX-78-2
>>14341588
It's great, although I wish the shoulder binders were able to lock together somehow.
>>14341588
I liked the Quebely, it was a nice build. I'd recommend it.
>>14341029
Nice to hear.
>>14340774
I've been dissuaded by comments such as "it's shit" and "maybe the only kit I actively regret owning"
Everything I've read online suggests it looks pretty, but posing is near impossible unless you just want it to look like Okawara lineart.
>>14341659
>>14340774
My best analogy is that it's the RG Zeta Mk. II
It's a really nice kit, and has some great gimmicks, but the integrity of the kit is compromised in some areas. Legs, for example, have no thigh-swivel, so only basic poses are capable for the lower body. The arms a bit finnicky, but I think they hold the rifle? I had to box all my kits a few weeks back and I've only just now started getting them back out.
So I want to build some other mecha kit other than Gundam. Does any1 have any good suggestions??? I'm currently eyeballing the the Shiranui type II bridges custom since it's on sale. Any good mech kits are appreciated, but try and keep it under 2000 yen.
>>14341707
On mine it can only hold the rifle without the grenade launcher.
>>14339943
I just completed painting my 2nd Gusion.
I took inspiration from the color of Executioner Smough's armor.

>>14341733
Yeah, that sounds about right. To be honest, I don't actually like the look of the grenade launcher as an add-on.
>>14340745
>>14340732
I would buy a RG nu in no time flat.
>>14341783
Is Crossbone Maoh getting cucked?
>>14341786
yep
>>14341219
Sweet. You literally only need one can of spray paint to make these variants
>>14341833
Two. One for the Navy, and one for the dark gray. Quebeley's chest is purple to begin with.
This red one will require three. Red, yellow, and gray.
>>14341783
Anyone got the one with Arios hiding behind a bookcase with 00 and GN-Archer in a suggestive pose?
>>14341765
Pretty much this. I keep about 40 bucks in my Gunpla fund so I can buy it immediately when it finally comes to us. The hope an RG will come is the reason I don't own a ν ver. Ka yet.
>>14341743
You have nice fingers, anon.
Is there anyway to make lets say a blue GM visor into a yellow one without having to paint over the transparency?
>>14342127
aurora film. or painting it silver then clear yellow
Seeing as how I haven't built anything in my small backlog for awhile, I was thinking of getting some new plastic crack. I was thinking either the MG Sinanju or the Kshatriya and a Stark Jegan. Which would you choose /m/? I haven built a MG in a very long time and I've been dying to get a Stark Jegan and the Kshatriya for awhile, I'm torn.
man the 1/100 IBO frames are detailed as fuck, i just wish I could mod this bastards' face some how to make it less long..any ideas goys?
>>14342340
It appears to have a standard neck post so head swaps should be possible.
>>14342340
You want to make the frame head less long? Or the rabbit-ears?
>>14342369
I wanna make the whole head less long on the bottom, so basically somehow cut off the elongated chin...i wish they engineered it so you could disconnect the visor/upper part, I would just use that
>>14342360
I like most of the head, just wish it was shorter, the bottom of the head being so long/giving it two faces really bugs me
See the bottom eye area, i would take it off if I could..basically make it look like the gerbera tetra head
anyone know when kotous ships out their f.a.gs? i ordered architect from TOM thinking they would order from kotojp but the didn't
>>14342257
I don't understand people that ask these kinds of questions....like you can't just ordr whichever you like more? U need /m/ to approve your purchases for some reason. Every thread we get that and how do you like my purchase? posts. Always.
>>14340048
Vallejo, AK Interactive, MIG ammo there are lots
Which kit is better, the V-Dash or the F91?
>>14342257
The MG Kshatriya definitely.
>>14342497
neither
>>14342497
The RG QAN[T]. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.
Are the HG Grimgerde shoulder pads attached the same way as the HG Barbatos' pads?
Anyone built the Zeydra and/or Ghirarga? They look pretty good, but I think I've heard that the Vagan kits were flimsy.
I'm also eyeing the RG Sinanju so hard, but I don't think my wallet will allow such a purchase right nowespecially since I have a 10 kit backlog
>>14342522
I can only afford an HG at the moment
>>14342163
But then it will lose the transparency
Now that I got my Action Base for my Revive RX-78, can someone post some good poses for the RX-78 other than the obvious Last Shooting? Poses from the anime that aren't mentioned as much would be nice.
>>14342531
Ignore him
So here's my progress of Nu so far. Finished everything but the backpack, and decals. I have put on the decals on the shield and one fin funnel. Not too hard, just time consuming. Looks like this guy's gonna be a lot more work than I anticipated, which excites me!
I really do like these decals though, wish more sets came with them. How hard is it to get them off of Samuel Decal? Also, anything else you guys think I should do to pretty him up? I was thinking of doing some minor weathering, nothing too fancy, just some exhaust grime, maybe some edge highlights. Thoughts?
>>14342257
I'm biased in that I love the mobile suit, but I say go with the Kshatriya. And see if you can get 2 more regular Jegans or Starks, so you can have them pose line in the first episode of the show. I kinda want to get another Jegan and a Stark to do that myself, I already have a Jegan, and I have an unbuilt Kshatriya, which I would be working on, but I don't have my paints currently.
>>14342466
Because maybe he would like to know the build quality, and /m/ is a quick and generally responsive community to source answers from.
Much easier than searching for Youtube videos or amazon reviews that aren't shit.
Anyways, go ahead and off yourself, you idiot cunt.
>>14342424
How does the Grimgerde connect to the neck of the torso? If it's just a ball joint, you could try cutting the middle section down, along with the armor, and then just gluing the top half to the cup where it connects to the neck. On a side note, I have your exact same clippers. And on another side note, is it resting on your tit, or your belly?
What is the difference between a P3 and A2P3 filter? On guide in the OP I see a suggested A2P3 filter but wikipedia talks only of P3 filters.
And here http://www.rsgsafety.com/products/product/a2p3-filter I read
>A: Organic Gases and Vapors
>B: Inorganic Gases and Vapors
So should I buy a "B" filter for paint?
Can someone explain what to do with the long rope things coming out of the neck? At first I thought they were supposed to run through the kits back. The instructions arn't very clear on it. This is a pretty cool build so far though. I didint realize how much painting it was going to need on some of the smaller parts.
>>14342651
I also really like how the feet came out. It reminds me of the raptors from Jurassic park.
>>14342582
Retard the build quality is fine for most modern kits, don't be mad because you're a cunty newfag and somebody called you out for your need to be spoonfed shit everyone else knows about. Lurk more twat
>>14342593
yea its a ball joint, there's not much i can do besides cutting the shit out of it (and probably ruining it) unfortunately. Too bad, it really bugs me. Also, thats my fat fupa area
>>14340157
Actually, it looks more like a spooky gundam head without a face

Define "fine"
And "most" doesn't mean all, so he could very well be talking about some of the kits that aren't fine. You're the only one being a cunt here and I'm fairly certain you've been called out on it several times before by lots of people, because I've seen this exact response to similar posts a lot in the past.
So just shut the fuck up since you've never contributed anything to this website by posting passive aggressive cunt responses.
>>14342842
>Trump wants to put a steep tax on imports
Only on American companies that move manufacturing overseas, and it's just an anecdote on what he might do to dissuade companies from doing that.
I don't know where you get this rubbish on import tax, because it's certainly not part of his official positions as listed on his site, and he's never mentioned it before.
>>14341605
I've never built the Revive Qubeley but I've build the HGUC Qubeley 4 times. How is it compared to the original?
>>14342934
objectively better
Am I the only one whose Kampfer Amazing kit has a shitty torso joint? I'm sure that I built it correct and well, I've been doing the Gunpla thing for a few years now and don't think I'd fuck up a suit so bad that it can't even hold its own weight.
>>14342566
For real anonny poo. Something cool but within the range of motion for the Revive.
>>14342891

The Nu comes with the ability to add an LED, but you need to buy them separately. You can get 2 in the MG Exia Ignition Mode, or separately on their own. I got a 2 pack, one for Nu and one for the Sazabi Ver Ka I'm gonna start after I finish the Nu.
Speaking of which, I finished some more of the decals on the skirt, and the trademark Amuro A on the left shoulder. There are so many decals, but I really like this. I'm sure I'll get tired of them by the time I start the Sazabi. Lord grant me patience. This is it for me tonight. All things considered, this has been a productive day!

I love you.I remember seeing this right after seeing either A Vote to Attack, The Glory of Solomen or Space Fortress A Baoa Qu when 0079 had its run on toonami. I wanted the Gundams and Zakus so bad as kid. I'd imagine a giant unused farm field next to my house was the moons or asteroids surface with hundreds of GMs, Gundams, Leos and Zakus battling it out. I remember my stupid self thinking Wing was a continuation of 0079 too, just further down the timeline. Thank you anon for giving me a bit of nostalgia
>>14343197
Are you me? I built the Revive Guncannon and GM Command for my first two as well. There's something really zen about taking your time putting kits together and making them look nice.
>>14343365
This. If you're only going to snapfag and not paint, dont fucking bother with the hobby at all. Snapfagging is a disservice to the hobby and if you dont paint, you're just better off buying figures instead
>>14342743
>Retard the build quality is fine for most modern kits
Haha just like the RG Zeta and MG V2 or the host of other blegh kits.
It's also worth noting that Anon was just asking what other people would prefer building, something that aesthetics won't tell you.
I would personally tell everyone and their dog not to get the WFR, but I'll be damned if it isn't a purty kit.

>>14344106
Meh, a lot of kits look good out of the box. And some people like building.
Did you get pissy as a kid if someone builds legos and only follows the instructions?
Personally I paint or at least detail my kits, and cant understand why someone would post pictures of an out of the box kit. But I'm not going to say they ruin the hobby or something gay like that.
>>14344106
Technically speaking, scientific studies have proven that building plamo actually benefits the health of a person's brain, making it as beneficial of a hobby as playing an instrument or even independent sports. I wouldn't tell someone to quit kendo just because they aren't trying to become national champion or anything like that. It's still good recreational activity.
On the other hand, idiots like >>14344290 >>14344303 have no standards and are advocating for people who take things a bit more seriously to be forced to endure snapfit builds that are worthless to them by people who could just keep them to themselves. I personally can't understand why anyone wouldn't try to better themselves and aspire for at least some artistic quality when they actually get involved with the community, especially when oftentimes all the tools necessary could be a couple pens, a can of topcoat, and some sandpaper. It almost makes me wish that gunpla came uncolored to weed them out of the social community like other sides of plamo, but Sturgeon says that just means we'd probably see more garbage like OP. When you get down to it, at least they contribute to the sales of the kits enough to pay for Bandai's fairly wide selection and generally high quality engineering.
>>14344338
why are you so goddamn dense. Its a past time activity some people don't care that much about it its just for fun shitlord.
its like saying why wouldn't some people try to beat every game on the hardest dificulty with every trophy possible. some people just want to play it throuhg and be done. you are an absolute retard. Stop trying to force your own ideals down everyones throat.

Seam welding + detail painting + topcoat is acceptable IMO
Otherwise you're excluding people who put a lot of time and effort into their models, but just don't have $300-500 to drop on a decent painting setup.
Honestly, I didn't feel like there was much of a difference between that level of work and a full paintjob. I certainly don't feel like I crossed the line into "real modelling" when I bought an airbrush.
a question here before i drop 50 bucks here /gpg. is 50 bucks a good price for all 2014 and 2015 hg customize campaign parts?
>>14344397
That's beside the point. Read the post again. There's no reason to upload pictures of snapfit builds. That's totally redundant, especially for someone who just want's to play it throuhg and be done. Doing so is forcing down one's own low standards down everyone else's throat.
A good rule of thumb is to not post a picture of a build if it isn't at least as good as what's featured on the manual. No one cares about snapfit.
>>14342651
You're supposed to trim them to the indicated length, then insert them under the blue piece where the neck meets the torso.

>>14344595
I'm guessing they post it because they feel proud of themselves and want to share what they feel is an accomplishment
Sure to many of us it doesn't seem like much since we've built countless kits and gone farther than a snapbuild, but to new builders I can see why they'd see it as a big enough deal to try and post about it. They're just trying to share their joys and achievements.
We were all newbie snapbuilders at some point, I don't think there's any need to be such a dick to them, that's how you scare away new people and leave us stuck with the same few guys and the shitposter.
>>14344705
>But how can I be superior to some stranger over the internet when it comes to chinese robot toys???
I agree with you anon. I myshelf can't afford all the painting equipment needed to make a good kit like an RG or MG look good. What I'm thinking of is just starting with some panel lining, and further down the line start painting some of my HG custom colours. Some of us know that if we try and paint some more expensive kits like an MG Sinanju for exaple, the outcome won't be at all good. That's way I don't paint at all.
>>14344717
Man, if you were in NYC I'd gladly share my painting equipment with you. I've got everything I need to paint, but no space to do it in. Feels bad just having it there and not being able to use it.
But yeah, panel lining and seam wielding would be the bare minimum in making a kit look good. Even just that by itself can really make a difference in how a kit looks. NEVER start with an RG or MG, that's definitely going to end badly. When you do start painting, expect to fuck up on something on your first attempt, so always start with something cheap and simple.
>>14344717
Decals and detail work are always a nice starting point. General smoothing and cleaning up nubs is something anyone can do.
Honestly, we build Gunpla because we love Gundam. I think it should be a basic aspiration to take a unit and do additional work to it. Might it be taking a mechanical pencil to it or using your own airbrush, if you don't really care about making it look good to the best of your abilities then do you actually like Gundam? You could build models of something you like more, might it be tanks or planes.
Honestly, I build because I love a mobile suit's design, the history behind it. I think there's beauty in many of the designs, which I like to try and draw out with what I have. This pretty much means decals, topcoat, and some panel washing from time to time. But I think everyone has a reason for building. I don't discourage people from just putting it together, but I like to also encourage people to take their work as far as their abilities and funds allow them. It's sad to see people who don't want to improve their own abilities. If you love doing something, don't you want to get the most out of it?
>>14344739
Amen to FUCKING that Anon. I'm holding my bowl of cereal that I'm eating atm and toasting to you. I couldn't have said it better. Snapbuilding is good to start like me, and if you don't want to go any further that's OK. But if you love the hobby, I suggest picking up some art supplies and start working.
These coming days I myshelf will be starting on a BArbatos x Kimaris custom project -ish of my own. I know it's gonna be an attrocity but where's the fun if you don't screw up a bit at the start and learn form your mistakes.

Seriously though get out of your fucking basement and grow a pair. You don´t get to dictate to anyone that they have to operate at the above average level just because of your "muh special hobby" fantasy. How stupid can you be to actually say to someone else that they are not alowed to either enjoy themselves with what they do or talk about it, because YOU preted to be on another level?
And calling snap fitting a disservice to the hobby? Are you for real? Good that you want to put in as much time and effort to bring the most out of what gunpla can be, but don't for a seccond think that building gunpla is some sort of master race art hobby where only the truest practitioners get to "enjoy" it.
it's toys for kids, that some of us have managed to transform in to so much more (and indeed sometimes even art), but at it's base its just toys. They are made to be enjoyed and you can do that in whatever way you want. If for you that means bringing out the art part, then by all means keep doing that (I personally strife for that), but don't for a seccond think that it makes you the authority on the matter that gets to tell others what to do.
>a disservice to the hobby

Snapfitting is only a disappointment because it marks a lack of desire to improve oneself. It's cool to have a shitty model or two at first but if you never improve with something as simple as cleaning nubs then you end up like Snapshit-kun: A sad shitposting tripfag who rejects all constructive criticism, actively promotes laziness and encourages poor worksmanship in new builders, and develops a persecution complex when in fact all the negativity is a direct result of his own efforts to make this board worse. We offer constructive criticism, that's it. If you don't want to take it then don't post, but we'll never try to dissuade someone from the hobby.
>>14345180
While I couldn't care less about someone being happy with their snapfits, I'm with the anon when it comes to not posting photos of them. What do they expect, a circle-jerk about how proud they are of their ability to follow basic instructions? There's no point posting pictures of an objectively poor build with the exception of asking for help on specific problems. Just posting a Snapshit level mess and saying "C&C pls uguu~" is going to get you nothing but ridicule.
/gpg/ should be about promoting self-improvement, not glorifying mediocrity. Telling new people it's fine to remain at the bottom rung just validates poor practice, same as telling people it's OK to be grossly obese. You want to be mediocre, fine, that's your prerogative. But don't start telling people that's all they need to be.
And the funny thing I bet a lot of you upholding the 'purity' of this fucking modelling thread haven't even held a tube of glue, yet alone used one.
They're plastic figurines. There are better things to be critical and stupidly elitist about.
>>14345277
Snapfitting =/= not lining and removing nubs
Are there any MG backpacks that make use of the Striker Pack connector besides the Aile/Vouivre Striker? I'm looking to add some binders to my Blue Frame D custom.
>>14344338
although I dont see the point in people posting snap shit. And I think its a dumb thing to brag about, theres nothing wrong with it. Ever scince the disaster that was the 'fabgeese', iv'e been sticking to normal builds myself. Although I have been itching to try another custom, now that iv'e got some more exp under my belt. But that'll be much further down the road when this zoid is finished.
Tried weathering the seravee, accidentally fucked the left leg up, il fix that later. How does it look other then that? I'm also gonna fix the cannons next to it's crotch since i think i sort of overdid them.
>>14344319
I'll be honest when I say this, I'd prefer a snapfit to post a well composed photo over a well done build taken in low light with a phone's camera. On the subject of the actual photography of models and Gunpla, I think it should at least be held on a similar level as you would build and detail a model if you're actually gonna post a picture of it. Because your lighting and composure can make a lightly detail kit look amazing, while a poorly composed image can make even the most top notch models look mediocre.
Now I'll fuck off back to /p/
>>14345320
It was an example. Maybe I should have said seam welding.
>>14345379
You're kind of right. While I'd rather have the model be good for the person's own sake, you're brain dead if you think people want to see your 11PM streetlight-illuminated movement blur of a picture, no matter the quality of the kit. I'd be much happier to give notes to a new snapfit builder (again, nothing wrong with snapfitting at first as long as you improve) than try to decipher that. A picture is just as much part of the build as the model itself.
How would you approach the scratchbuilding of the back parts of this tank from the Zaku the Ground War set? Thin copper wire or thin styrene rods? If I use copper wire, how should I glue the parts to the plastic?
My goal is to have a similar back part, but hollow, without the plastic between the supports (or whatever those things are called in a tank).
>>14345402
that's a job for thin styrene, but why do you want to make it without the plates?
>>14345407
Because I don't like they way the plates look, I would also have to glue them because the back part and the sides are misaligned.
Maybe I could sand the details and rebuild it out of styrene smoothing the edges to get a shade or a sense of separation between the pieces, but I don't know.
Also, aren't those supposed to be hollow in real tanks?
To the anon that asked,
4Ujesus christ the lighting in my room is bad
Could a kind anon with a Mega Slash Edge take a picture of it in the hands of any HG. If you have a Sterk Jegan you could put it in, that'd be great too. But honestly any ol' Hg will do.

I don't think they do it because they want everyone to praise them and give them hugs for it, I think newbies just post their snapbuilds because they're just feeling good about their build and themselves and wanted to bring a little more activity to what's usually already a slow board anyway.
It wouldn't kill you to just ignore it and keep scrolling, you don't have to be an asshole that ruins their fun.

I don't think any of them have the same connectors the HG Barbatos has. Some kits, like the Graze shoulders, can connect to the binders, but, from what I can tell, none of them have that hole how the Barbatos has. The 6th Form connects the shoulders just like everything else, so it works out better for kit bashing, and it comes with everything the HG Barbie does, besides the arm armor.

>>14346072
The whole thing looks good, except for the paint. Remember: thinning, masking, and multiple thin layers
>>14345402
I'd actually say get some copper wire and some CA glue to attach it to the plastic. you can bend copper wire, so it's probably easier than constructing the frame out of styrene rods.

Yeah, loadout and the GM itself is good, sorry for not mentioning that. I was too distracted by the paint job. I didn't mean redo the whole thing, I just meant the paintjob, or at least fix it.
If it's a work in progress then alright, keep it up, I'm sure it'll look great. I just thought that was your finished product, which.. wouldn't be great.
Everything but the paintjob looks good though, that's all that really needs improvement. Is this your first time painting?

Maybe some people want to practice their photography with their snap build and share it. Maybe its their first kit. Maybe they plan to paint it later.

You do realize it's possible to give friendly constructive criticism, right? Saying "Good job, here's what you can do to improve." is better than "Thin your paints you piece of shit". You're the kind of person that discourages other people from actually improving.
I want to build an RX-78-2 but I don't know which version is best. Is the RG any decent, or should I pick an MG or the Origin HG one???

You should be using something to support your straights and make bends using some sort of guide (like a big corner block. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to strengthen copper wire when it's that small.
If you don't mind getting a dedicated set of tools, you could get steel music wire, which is a LOT harder to work but won't bend accidentally.

>that's the last thing your average Zaku pilot ever saw
So I think I figured out why this thing is the "ZZ"II when it looks so much like the "Z"II.
Those wings on the back actually look a lot like the ZZ's arm shields/wings. I think this things gimmick is that it splits into a top and bottom section when it transforms like the ZZ instead of a single unit like the Zeta.
>>14348124
Also, the shoulder shape look like the ZZ's shoulder wing things.
Worked on the shoulder details a bit tonight. Finally came up with something I liked to highlight the origin shoulder gimmick. I cut down on the bottom half of the shoulder split and am going to make some vents right on the split that lift up with the top half. Here the vents are being secured, the next step is to cut where the green line is after they've dried for a day, then put another piece of styrene there and where the red piece is so it looks like it came that way. They styrene is exactly the width of the white plastic so it fits over the inner frame piece. I think it will fit with the look of the kit overall but be a nice detail in a very visible location.
>>14348124
>>14348130
Or not I guess as I just found pictures of it transformed.
>>14348145
for reference that's 0.5mm thickness strip, lets just say placing that took a while. The lower strip going across is to hold them at the correct position while they dry and it will get cut off
>>14348145

>>14348172
Yeah I'm trying to use a few little cues like that that aren't super obvious but kind of fun to notice. My skirts are sort of based on the 3.0 and a few other areas are things like that. I kind of just want it to be my own version of the idea of the "main suit"

Is a gloss coat needed for a panel line wash? I don't have any easily accessible outdoor space, but I really want to get cleaner panel lines.

No, Gloss is to protect paint jobs from when you clean up the wash and the setter in decals right?

Can someone with a MG Full Armor Unicorn tell me how long the fuel tanks are?
Just started airbrushing, went to the local hobby store and asked around for a bottled primer. He told me in his 30 years of building all he used was a standard gray colour.
Tried it out and cannot tell the difference between just using a flat gray acrylic and the expensive Tamiya primer. Are we getting suckered?
>>14348672
If you're only doing it to change color, maybe?
Sometimes there will be issues with paint adhesion, and primer can remedy that- however tamiya primer is not the only primer in the world.
>>14348672
Primer isn't for painting. Its for priming. Acrylic is going to come off easily. Maybe on a ship model its OK. But gunpla have moving parts and acrylic has no real bite.
On my kits the acrylic comes off on parts that rub, but primer sticks.
If say the base was yellow, when the acylic chips off your going to see yellow poking through. With primer you'll only see grey.
Some people say primer helps the acrylic bite, but honestly that hasn't been my experience.
If you aren't going to be moving it, you could just paint on the bare plastic with no primer or psuedo-primer. I've done it before when I ran out of primer once.
But also if you aren't living in Japan, you are getting raped on the prices of Japanese aerosol cans, because those are bitch to import and are heavy. In Japan the prices are reasonable enough.
>>14348678
In what cases would there be issues with paint adhesion? Older plastic kits?
Outside of buying Tamiya or grabbing random spray can primer from a hardware store was to get Revell primer in those little tins.
This is my first custom paint job, but from what I can see there is no difference in look or touch between the Tamiya and the acrylic I used.
>>14348688
That makes a bit of sense. I guess my best solution would just be to decant so that the primer lasts longer because of the control using the airbrush.
>>14348546
>>14348557
After painting, and before panel lines and weathering and other details, do a gloss coat.
It helps everything stick together while also protecting your paint job, or something.
So it's
Painting > gloss coat > panels, weathering, other detailing etc. > gloss coat/matte coat whatever you want to finish with
Vent came out pretty good, still need to work the plastic a bit once it's really cured
Just finished my Eva 01 last night. Still needs a lot of work but I already love the result so far.
I'm assembling a HG Barbatos, and I noticed the manual has A LOT of english in it. As in, real proper english to explain what everything means.
Are the nips thinking of the west with modern kits?
Also why is this kit so much fun to make?
>TFW plastic crack is real
Send help.
>>14348709
if you have an airbush, just buy the primer bottles. It cant be that much than normal Tamiya paint. Hell Mr. Surfacer 1500 is basically primer.
Strangely, personally I prime with cans but paint with my air brush.

Do you guys own any kits, that unexpectedly became your favorite builds?
I'll start: Bought a HGUC Acguy some months ago and finally had some time to build him. He feels pretty massive for an HG and has an almost complete inner frame. Plus his eye moves in all directions and the head has a giant clear visor piece. For being such a chunky design this guy is surprisingly poseable. He can even stand on one foot.
>tl;dr Acguy is love
>>14349365
Now paint him like one of your French gunplas.
>take a picture of my gunpla with my new camera
>can see ALL THE DUST, including around where I keep my gunpla displayed
What's the best way to get rid of dust? Is the Swiffer thing real or just a way to scam housewives out of money?
Right now I'm using a soft bristle paint brush to sweep the dust off my kits but I'd like to prevent them from getting this bad in the future.
>>14349365
>Do you guys own any kits, that unexpectedly became your favorite builds?
It'd have to be my GN Archer and Gouf Custom, especially since I started posing them together.

SO I wanna buy a nice MG kit but don't know which kits are any good. I'm currently eyeballing the Strike Noir but since it's an olden kit I don't know if it's any good.
Also my other option is the RX-78-2 ORIGIN version.
I'd like a new kit since the engineering is better the past years compared to older kits but all suggestions are appreciated.
>>14349704
Id' wait to see how the DM Strike Noir turns out first, The Origin Gundam is a really good choice though.
