Thought it was a fairly solid series, short and straight to the point. I did like how Takahashi managed to blend Sci-Fi and fantasy into the setting.

I like it a lot. I wish it got the planned second half that would have focused more on the sci-fi side of the plot. I really love the idea of a bunch of low fantasy medieval knights who get dragged into a space war by accident.

Dunbine is a show I like despite its fairly glaring faults. The dialogue is awful and the entire last third is a terrible slog where nothing happens, but I like the setting and the designs are actually quite creative compared to most of the shit in the Sunrise 80s shows.

Hepoi is surprisingly good from what I've seen of it (about 1/4). I should watch the rest soon. I dig how it incorporates JRPG pacing into its episodes. It actually has boss fight episodes which is where the mechs get summoned. The rest of it is fantasy adventure.

I like the Promaxis' torso better than Zuwel's but centaurs don't do it for me so I did a thing with fillable lineart. I think it came out pretty decent.

It helps that the director got switched midway through for the guy that would go on to helm Agedama (Namiki Masato).

Any love for Escaflowne? I finished the series last week and absolutely loved it, probably one of my favorites. I thought the plot started to move too quickly by the second half of it and I'm not sure I liked the ending that much, but aside from that it was wonderful.

The Japanese card game "Valhalla Gate" also has some super-fun fantasy versions of Go Nagai mecha -- here's Shin Getter Robo as Agni, the Hindu god of of fire and the conveyor of sacrifices to the gods (sorta an Indian Hermes).
