Characters are shit. The only redeemable feature are the transforming motorcycles. Even the fighters jets are mediocre as far as transforming mecha goes. But the transforming motorcycles are godly. Aramaki at his best.

Mint Rubble is one of the most annoying characters ever - which is too bad, since I otherwise liked her design.
The show in general starts out with an interesting premise, but the end just felt like a rushed attempt to have some higher concepts involved, but didn't really work.
I recall seeing the Robotech version as a kid and kinding the armor/bike transformations cool then, but upon rewatching the show it didn't really hold up.
Maybe the SRW treatment could salvage the good parts to some extent...

It was more about SRW doing interesting things with the story/characters/setting than anything concerning international release.
Like how W probably put way more focus into the goddess figure in GoLion than the actual show did and had that work with the GaoGai Gar setting, for example.
