Try going through the motions from bottom to top, ignore the Blitz. It's a swing from the side that transitions into an overhead position. Now try doing it the "regular" way, it's incredibly uncomfortable.
Based on the first frame, Kira's best option would've been to just smack the Blitz's head off with the butt of the sword. The javelin was, as we know, easy enough to avoid.

To be fair Kira totally unnecessarily went for that kill. Not only was it aimed straight at the cockpit what the fuck did he think Nicole was going to do with a sharp pointy stick? The basic Strike with no pack and no extra battery was able to outright tank a hit from the Ginn's sword in the 2nd episode. Nicole's basically a caveman throwing wood sticks a tank and Kira decided the savage should take a beam to the cockpit.

Those were one of his missiles he was holding. Not a stick. The ones that pierced AA's hull and then exploded.
Granted Strike probably could have withstood it without too much damage but he still about to get a facefull of explosion.
That's the reason Nicol turned off his cloak and exposed himself. If he rammed Strike with that and his PS off he'd have blown himself up.

The problem is that shooting Greedo isn't really considered a turning point in a character's development. It's just a throwaway scene in the beginning of the movie that establishes that Harrison Ford is a savvy scoundrel who isn't afraid to play dirty to save his own skin (and plenty of other scenes in the rest of the original trilogy do that just as well). I mean, I don't agree with Greedo shooting first either but it's not a huge fucking deal in the long run.
And as much as everyone already agrees that SEED is shit, this is effectively whitewashing.

Here's the problem, SEED's intended message is to tell kids war is bad and all the reasons we should avoid war. At least, that's what Fukuda said one of the producers wanted to say. The show is meant to be pacifism porn, and thus is completely biased.
Take for instance the scene where Kira tells those guys in the desert they're dumbasses for fighting when they're outgunned. These are people trying to retake their homeland from ZAFT, and had just lost a bunch of guys doing so, and Kira acts all high and mighty to them. He's not treated as wrong either, and then Lacus later says you need both a reason to fight and power to back it up.
So basically, if you can't get shit done let yourselves be conquered. No cause is worth it if you can't achieve your goals. And then SEED ignores the backstory/setting notes that would give both sides reasons to fight and says the war was fueled by Coordinators being arrogant of their superiority while Naturals were just jelly.
The show is really dumb like that and falls apart on examination. But it's supposed to be pacifism porn so it's alright, right?

Well they were. A noble goal is good and all but a bunch of guys on jeeps with bazooka's have no chance against Zaft ground forces. Getting yourselves killed for pride in a situation you know you aren't gonna win is just being a dumbass, especially when Kira was right there willing to help the whole time and they refused to ask him.
Ideals are pointless without a protagonist and title mobile suit to back it up and that's how Gundam has always worked.

No, it's still pointed towards the left in the remastered. It's just that the retarded new movements make it look like it's swinging towards the right (e.g., extended away from the Strike's body) as opposed to the left (positioned in front of the Strike in a supposedly defensive position). By the fact that the Blitz's torso is occluded by the sword in those last few frames you can tell that the sword is between the two suits, but the way it's animated (Notice how the Strike's torso somehow rotates more than 90 degrees away from its legs? And how the sword looks absurdly small as if implying that it's into the background?) is completely nonsensical and shows just how inferior the "remaster" is.

Actually, on further analysis, I'm wrong. Judging by the fact that the sword is facing right after Kira lets go of it (which in and of itself is retarded, if you're shocked at what you did you don't move the actuators on your robot to let go of the sword, that takes more complex movement than holding onto the sword and trying to pull it out, or just sitting still in your cockpit), the only way that scene would have worked is if the sword was extended away from the Strike's body, and he was holding it to his side like a fucking matador.
Still, look at this specific frame, the sword is clearly in front of the Blitz, which implies that it is pointed towards the left. But when Kira lets go in the next cut, it is clearly pointed towards the right.

So, this image brings up another bullshit part of the choreography. Nichol is attacking with his left arm, but he moves to the left at the last moment. With the arm missing, he'd want to keep his weapon between the Blitz and the Strike, at least for defense; however, with Kira's posture, that deke to the left is necessary for Nichol to get on the business-end of the blade.

I would like to further point out that, upon even more analysis, the Blitz's javelin is somehow angled in such a way that its back end is in FRONT of the Blitz's torso. Meaning that for some godforsaken reason, Nicol appears to be pointing it even further to the left, towards thin air where the Strike couldn't even be.
