I'm gonna phrase it in a way that will ruffle some feathers but it's basically the truth so it's okay:

Brit mechs put Jap mechs to shame. 40k mechs especially are as beautiful as mechs can get (with a handful of negligible exceptions)

Which is ironic since some of them are loosely based on Japanese designs. Not this one though.

Look at this.

I don't know why some of you bother collecting gunpla when you could own this instead. It's certainly way more expensive but it's comparatively a better investment. It oozes character AND it looks like a fucking war machine.

Iron Warriors player here, OP.

Please stop contributing to the stereotype with this kind of shitposting.

>I don't know why some of you bother collecting gunpla when you could own this instead.

Probably because people don't feel like paying nearly £100 for a slab of plastic and forcing themselves to get into a hobby that is the only reason to own said slab of plastic.
>>
>>14308623
Would you prefer it if instead I spammed "IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT" and went on never-ending tirades about how Perturabo is the most awesomest primarch and how he invented everything ever and how he's Da Vinci and Crowley and Mussolini and has a bigger dick than everyone else? Or if I started a circlejerk over Erasmus Golg and made funny maymays about his rapeface?

Cause I'm pretty sure that's what the IW player stereotype really consists in.

>>14308628
40k models make better display pieces than any gundam model, you don't even need to use them in games.

Also are you telling me you didn't spend more than 100 pounds on gook miniatures yet? Cause I find that hard to believe, I mean even if they aren't overpriced I can hardly conceive that a collector would spend so little on his collection.

>>
>>14308640

No, not really, because 'gook miniatures' are stupid cheap because of conversion rates.

I'm not going to spend nearly 100 pounds of my own money to buy a model intended for use in a tabletop game that I don't play and have it sit and gather dust.
>>
>>14308631
He's referring more to the stereotypes of 40k players in general as loud, obnoxious idiots who feel compelled to shit on other people's hobbies in order to justify their own.

Please stop promoting that stereotype.

British and other European mecha in general tends to be a tad more developed than American mecha, generally because Americans don't pay much attention to that sort of thing.

BT's mecha aren't based just on Macross, but also Dougram, among other franchises. 40k's mecha, being British, have to their credit a lot of originality going on. I think most of them, with some exceptions (e.g. Tau) are rather nice looking.

Tau mechs are just now starting to look like proper eastern mechs. The Ghostkeel suit for example makes is a decent Landmate knockoff.

>Shitty, overdesigned trash
>can't move or be configured to different poses for multiple display options
>no accessorizing at all
>more expensive than things that include the above features and are most likely also bigger
>need to buy multiples of these miniatures to even interact with the fiction they come from instead of the other way around, giving you little incentive to buy in the first place and a ridiculously empty wallet if you do buy

That said, I don't even collect gunpla, I collect chogokin. I still think you're full of shit.

To be fair, the Tau are the most weeb-ish of any 40k faction. The Eldar are just space elves, while the tau, as folks have said before, are pretty much GW saying "we want the Gundam Wing audience.

The only problem being that there just aren't enough villain mecha available. Bandai weren't thinking far enough ahead. Imagine how much money they could make from this.

Well my lgs here play gunpla frequently in tabletop form, using Jovian ruleset, usually involving 2-4 mech skirmish. It more famous than 40k nowadays, since its cheaper. Need bigass tables thought.

Playing Thunderbolt ace battle scenario yesterday. Dang i wish i have the pic.

Also, try beat this filthy toy OP
>>
desu, both japanese and western mecha are pretty shitty. I don't know why any grown man would collect children's toys, and then spend an inane amount of time arguing about them online with other adults. Surely you all have a better use of your time?

By mean "better times" is strolling in party like crazy, burning millions of dosh on disco and hookers and then get endless hangover and loosing both money, life and dignity as a result? Like all self entitled "adults" and "sociallites"?

Yeah collecting toys are much better, better pretend to be happy-go-lucky manchildren than destroying both self and family for sake of such "adulthood".
