A month or so ago, I made a topic seeing if anyone had scans of the artwork from the Japanese release of Dune, drawn by Ishinimori. No one had any, but I was searching recently and managed to find three pages from it from someones blog. I thought I would share my findings. Please feel free to post other artwork based on other sci fi properties, preferably literature.
This first one is when the Atredis first get to Arrakis and Jessica is unpacking and she meets the one Freman attendant for her. She pulls the knife on Jessica who uses her Bene Gesserit abilities to show that she is one that they are looking for.

This one is... I'm not quite sure. I want to think the small child is Alia, because her mom is huge compared to her, but it also may be the beginning of the book when Paul is tested by the Reverend Mother (in the background) with that pain box. Any other guesses?

And last one is after Paul and Jessica escape the Harkonnen assault and Paul find his family's ring in the supply bag.
I'm going to keep searching for more, but it was hard enough finding these scans. My Japanese isn't that good, but I might try and see if I can fish anything from 2chan. At this point, though, I might just have to buy the books and scan them myself.
I'm going to post some high resolution images of the covers I found. Much better than you can find on the English sites.

Third (of three) of Children of Dune, featuring Paul's daughter, Gwhani, I think her name was. I don't have the second book, but it's just a sandworm on it.

the text mentions Eiria, so yeah probably Ailia
wasn't there something about how she spooped the women because she knew stuff?
this might be that

Third book of God Emperor of Dune. Closest interpretation I've seen (based on the book) of Leto's transformation into a sandworm.
The artist is the same person who did the Legend of Galactic Heroes books.

Yeah, she was only 2 years old but functioned at the capacity of an adult. Her mother (Jessica) was pregnant with her when she takes the spice and 'awakens' to become a Reverend Mother. This gives Jessica, and Alia, the memories of every single person who has ever lived. This is a major plot point in the later books.

Here's one of the covers for Heretics of Dune. I admittedly never got this far into the saga, so I don't know the context.
That's all I found, I'm going to dig around some more. It's basically just looking at Japanese blogs that certain keywords pull up and hoping they've posted something.
>>
Oh, and forgot, here is the most recent release of Dune's cover.

Thank you, this was a great find! All these pages are from the first novel only?

Excellent stuff. There's a lot of cool art from that era of japanese sci-fi for things like this. I remember seeing a couple series I really liked having some rad japanese art/covers, but I can't remember which anymore.

American sci fi novels used to be serialized in a magazine called simply 'SF Magazine.' These serializations would later be released as compilations with all the art. This is why the first Dune book is broken up into four parts. This SF Magazine included amazing artwork. Pick related, its from Starship Troopers.

So I had an epiphany. I knew that Ishinomori did the art work, so I googled his name and dune (in Japanese) and managed to find some pictures from Children of Dune for a Yahoo auction! The book is split into three parts, two images from each. Here are the images.
From the first book, these are the tiger creatures they are training to kill the Altredi twins. Yes, it's the best the former emperor's offspring could think of.

Here's the second image. I forgot to apologize for the size, but beggars can't be choosers.
This is the twins kicking it, which is like half the book so I don't know what part this is exactly.

First image from book 3. Can't remember the context, I'm rereading Children of Dune for the first time in years and haven't made it back to this part yet.

And the second image from book 3, the twins kicking it again.
Sorry, that's all I got. I live in Los Angeles and there are a few Japanese bookstores that I will check out, maybe I can find the novels. This artwork is too good to be shared.

Yeah, that's what it was. SF Magazine has a ton of cool stuff. I imagine that's where a lot of directors, writers, etc. pulled inspiration from, reading old SF Magazines in the 60s.

Forget pulling inspiration, its where a lot of them got there start! Studio NUE consisted of multiple artists pulled from the magazine.
Here is a painting of Princess Irulia that someone else did in Ishinomori's style.

And here's a cool cover for Code of the Lifemaker by James Hogan.
That's all I have today, folks. Now I really exhausted my options.

Thanks for all the Ishinomori uploads. Always neat to see some more rare artwork of his, especially for the ones that seem to have gotten lost to time like these. Good luck in your search for more of these illustrations
>>

very cool stuff, I gotta hit the Japanese auction sites for pics of stuff more

iirc the Ishinomori books for Dune didn't go for very much used on YJ, like, ten bucks or so when I checked a few years back
>>
>>14310758
The auctions I was seeing were going for like a dollar per volume. I think there was a site that could facilitate Yahoo Japan auctions. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
>>
>>14317754
yeah, there's been intermediary services that do YJ for the non-Japanese
I don't remember the names off the top of my head, sorry

>Here's one of the covers for Heretics of Dune. I admittedly never got this far into the saga, so I don't know the context.
If this is Heretics, the guy is Miles Teg, an old sardaukar officer chosen by the Bene Gesserit to train the latest ghola of Duncan Idaho. Sexual hijinks ensue.

>Princess Irulia
Irulan.
>>

The style reminds me a bit of that Mad Max illustration Nagai did.
>>

My guess would be after Leto begins his transformation, he meets Paul and his guide (one of the Jakarutu cast-outs) who attacks him only to get btfo by Leto. The black-robed man in the background watching the exchange is Paul as the Preacher
