He's driving bike combat vehicles and they're kicking ass, something that had become uncommon up until then. It's as simple as that.

The Kou, Ohtu, and Galicson could stand up to MS, and what's more, excel against them. A good feat.

How does this not make sense in context? Serious question.

That particular scene OP's shot is from takes place entirely on land though, the Motorad fleet would only come up much later.

Duker and Renda would be nice if they didn't belong to a faction of such insufferable fags.
>>
He's getting wrecked how is he unstoppable?
>>
>>14305176
IIRC up until Uso started to finagle with the Victory Gundam, Duker Iq and his team were doing well. When they come back with the Galicson and more Kou+Ohtu bikes a few episodes later, they kick ass again.
>>
Middle Ages = right now
Even though they're only like 200 years from now.
>>
>>14305144
Definitely, Duker liked Mad Max and Megazone 23.

Tomino wants space battleships.
Toy company that just bought Sunrise says they want the show to take place on earth.
So Tomino makes earth battleships, and makes them retarded to spite the toy company.
Lots of things like this happened in Victory, it's why Tomino hates it so much.

But Tomino has this weird ability of being at his most awesome when he's trying to fuck up. He not only fails at failing, he fails so hard at failing that he creates legendary awesome.

Even though this is the mecha board, you should know that Mechas suck by design; >>14305153
>>14305159
are designs that honestly would be feasible in the battlefield, and even the giant wheeled warships like >>14305175
are far more probable than the standard anti-gravity warship in sci-fi.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Holy shit anon ok
Here, i'll give your (You)'s

It's the Tomino Terminus Effect.

Unfortunately, the opposite is also true sometimes.

i like your explanation i really do

Remember how Gihren said Hitler was from the middle ages?

>>14305819
It'll probably be easier to make a flying battleship than to make an engine that produces enough torque to move such enourmous tyres lol
>>

i have been too lazy to trawl back through V to screenshot this exact frame, but have been meaning to do so since i saw it about 6 months ago

thanks anon

Did you guys fail highschool physics or something? You can scale up wheeled vehicles quite easily (although keeping them from sinking to the ground might be more difficult).

Middle ages is probably a mistranslation or something that makes more sense to the Japanese like 'this world isn't square.' It only sounds off to English-speaking people.
>>
>>14318320
No, it's really quite simple. Instead of considering UC as a fourth era in periodisation, they've collapsed the former Medieval period into the Classical one and rebranded our "Modern" period as the Middle Ages. It should make sense to anyone with a brain and a modicum of knowledge regarding historiography.
>>
>>14318328

no it's fucking retarded. You can't just redefine a well known period of history on a whim and expect people to swallow it.

We know what the middle ages are in a very clear undebatable sense
>>
>>14318320
Middle Ages isn't a mistranslation. It's a common alternative name for the Medieval. What the fuck are they teaching you kids at school?
>>
>>14318333
Actually it does make sense since there are three traditional divisions: Classical, Middle, and Modern. Middle could arguably expand if your tech and society change so radically you can't associate with the modern era any more.
>>
>>14318333
The Medieval Period referred to itself as the Modern Period. The three era divide replaced the Four Empires, which replaced the Six Ages. Most periods don't even have agreed upon start and end-dates. You could easily change the way society regards historical periods within a generation or two with public education.

Or, are you saying it's dumb for writers to expect people to use their brains while watching a chinese cartoon? Besides, Gihren already described Hitler as being from the Dark Ages.
>>
>>14318344
>tfw people will remember the period from WW1 onwards as the dark ages
>>
>>14318344
Well, it was a pretty dark period in history and all, he wasn't wrong.
>>
>>14318344
What if we're overthinking this and Gihren just didn't pay attention to ancient history. We're very familiar with the WW1-2 era because it's fairly recent history and the events at the end of WWII led to the Cold War which spanned the second half of the 20th Century.
Gihren went to school half a century after a unified world government was created, so the "important" figures of over a century ago weren't really relevant anymore.

Be honest, how many of you know (without googling it) what century Haile Selassie belongs to?
>inb4 google answers the question and everyone acts like they already knew it
>>
>>14318320
>>14318328
Alternatively, Duker just has a poor knowledge of history
>>
>>14319013
He's only off by 300 years. The Middle Ages ended in 1500 and the bicycle was invented in 1817. Actually, it's pretty easy to be ignorant of exactly when anything "ancient" was invented because we tend to lump anything before "recent" into one big category. Most people, for example, would not be able to tell you that chocolate wasn't invented until 1828 but cocoa is over 3000 years old, or that the ancient egyptians (as in PYRAMID ancient, not just Cleopatra ancient) had fiberglass.
>>
>>14318316
>(although keeping them from sinking to the ground might be more difficult)

And then you said it was more practical....

You contradict yourself mr.physic professor
>>
>>14319068
Actually it's not a problem at all. That's why the tires on really large vehicles are proportionally larger than the tires on small ones.

In fact, it's a whole lot easier to double the proportional size of the tires on a wheeled vehicle than to double the proportional size of the feet on a bipedal vehicle. Shock absorption systems for wheeled vehicles are separate from the wheels themselves, so wheels can be greatly increased in size without greatly increasing the weight of the shock absorption system, in addition to the tires contributing to shock absorption by simple flexibility. Mechanical legs, on the other hand, have integral shock absorption systems that are not only more complex but need to be scaled up more than those of wheeled vehicles because scaling up the structure of legs and feet adds more weight per square inch of contact surface gained than scaling up tires does.
