what are your thoughts on b-daman past the bomberman bakugaiden stuff, /m/?
I think the designs are cute and fun.
We used to be able to break glass windows and shit with the old ones. Nowadays they have no firepower.

>We used to be able to break glass windows and shit with the old ones.
Stop thinking you're in an anime.
I loved it when they were model kits instead of solid toys
>>14304330
Try playing around with the older models. They were hilariously lethal.
I'll always appreciate it because it set the groundwork to get me into Gunpla damn near ten years down the road.

>what are your thoughts on b-daman past the bomberman bakugaiden stuff, /m/?
I'll always like the bomberman stuff better :/
He da man
>>14303791
My mom took mine and didn't let me get any more after I shot her in the eye
>>14308728
dude what the hell
We all stuffed some shit in the DHB cannon for more firepower right ?
B-Da Calibur is pretty spiffy.
>>14303791
Not as good as bakugaiden...
It had cockpit/pilots/transforming/gattai/headmasters/etc.
Can't beat that.
Remember when Gundam did their take on bdaman?
>>14303791
i never understood the point of these things... are they robots? or are they guns? they don't seem to do much other than launching marbles. so why bother making them in the shape of robots? the whole thing just feels kinda tacky to me...
>>14314965
They are toy robots that shoot marbles.
>>14314965
Hard to explain. B-daman first started out in the early 90s as merchandise to Bomberman. Just a marble shooter in Bomberman's image. Then in the mid-90s, they split it up into
>Bakugaiden series with traditional giant mecha
>Beyblade/Hyper-yoyo/GBF/Yugioh/etc-like "competitive" Super B-daman series.
By the time Late 90s/Early 2000s came, the Bomberman license got fucked. Bakugaiden had no chance of continuing due to it using Bomberman's image. However, Takara somehow managed to distance B-daman from Bomberman, removing all references to that franchise. That is the product that Hasbro brought over to the states.
>>14314965
fun toys are fun
>>14304341
I had one of those as a kid. Got it while I was in HK.
The power behind them was intense. Too bad I lost it ages ago.
>>14308958
I remember owning this. I thought it was so goddamn radical.
>>14314877
this thing?
>>14315437
Those things have power? Dear god, I thought they just rolled around a bit.
>>14314877
>>14315073
Interesting. I wonder if there's Gundam version of Beyblade, Crush Gear, etc
>>14316096
Whoops, should have been for >>14314877 and >>14315446
>>14304330
It's true. They're almost more engineering challenges than toys that were safe for children to play with. Then there were the bootleg Chinese made ones that either broken or were even more lethal. Sometimes they even popped out prematurely and backfired.
This, in the picture, looks like a genuine one, but notice the huge stylized grips on the back. Those weren't just for decoration. The springs had so much tension you actually needed them to push the button/trigger all the way down.
>>14304789
Bomber-man were more fun as toys and models, yeah. Where they sacrificed playability they made up for with more interesting gimmicks and less danger.
The problem with b-daman was that you can't just start playing with them. Fire indoors and you might break or dent something. Fire them outside and you'll stay losing marbles really quickly. Play as intended and, well, you can get hurt or bruised pretty easily. It's a pretty scary toy.
Shit I remember watching this back in China
I had either the black one or the blue one, I don't remember.
We don't have marbles nor did any of the vendors in the area sold it once some autist kid choked on one, so they just kinda become shelf decorations like gunpla.
Fun times. Those things were powerful enough to seriously hurt someone though
>>14316353
Your vendor was weak. The one by our school sold dangerous toys behind drawn curtains if the media or parents complained too much.
>>14303791
Didn't they sell these in the west for a short time?
>>14316371
I was too much a goody-two-shoes (read: wuss) to go to the dark corners of the store.
Missed out on more than just bdaman stuff.
>>14316313
Shit got really weird when they added spin to the marbles so that they do curve shots, rollback shots, multiple shots, and then this fucking thing...
Did they ever get any more ridiculous than this thing?
>>14316408
What's the news say?
>>14316463
I don't know. Too much of each kanji is cut out except for the last one. Can't really work with just one kanji.
>>14316408
I think things like these were the limit of competitive B-Daman. It's more elaborate than most of the stuff I've seen.
>>14316096
There's a Gundam bb sangokuden version of crush gears iirc
This thing is probably my favorite next to the phoenix series. The chamber is extra long to accommodate firing two marbles at once. The red thing at the lower claw adds extra friction during firing to give it a forward spin, thus making the marble travel faster on a surface.
If you rotate the claw around you can make the marble spin at a different angle so that it would move in a curve on a surface. Since the claw can be spun around, the user's index fingers isn't always in the right place to apply pressure to the claw. To alleviate the problem the blue ring is used to press on the claw instead. Oh and it hits frigging hard.
The engineers department took this stuff way too seriously and put in way too much work into these toys. We were just kids for god's sake. Why would we need something this complex and powerful?
Oh and you can shoot the marble like this so that it would bounce off the launch pad and move around crazier. I think this is the mode that allows the marble to come back to you.
>>14317692
Made it curve around corners, actually. There's a B-Daman in one of the newer series that is a direct homage to this.
>>14317720
This is the entire lineage of the curve shot bdaman. The first two couldn't fire really hard. The third one posted above used the design of an antagonist. I'm not sure what the hell happened with the fourth.
Out of curiosity could you give me more information on the one you are talking about?
>>14304341
Dude, 19 km/h is only like 5 meters per second. There are plenty of B-Daman from the more recent installments of the series that are more powerful than that.
>>14317737
CB-38 Drift=Jacker from CrossFight B-Daman (2011-2012).
>>14317769
Looks like Dunbine
>>14317781
Maybe. It's supposed to be a Peacock.
>>14316342
The most modern ones have a safety on the bottom so that they can only be fired with any sizable power when they're set on a table. There are also plenty of closed-quarters arenas so that you can fire at targets or play games in a contained battlefield.
I'd also like to remind everyone that in 2006, B-Daman literally looked like fucking handguns with magazine clips. Needless to say, Japan didn't take it well.
>>14317807
We got some of that stuff back in 2000.
>>14317807
>magazine clips
>>14317936
>>14318014
A clip is a device that loads rounds into a magazine.
>>14318014
that thing is a monster.
I want it.
>>14318014
I like it!
Magazine loader thingy from 97~98ish. Trigger isn't the firing mechanism. It just lets in more marbles so the thing doesn't jam. The yellow thing lets you screen in giant ass pop bottles.
>>14319850
Oh, you have no idea. The Crash B-Daman system can create some crazy bullshit.
>>14319999
There's also a server that looks like a drum magazine and spins around when you fire.
This one here just has an RPG strapped to the side. Kek.
>>14318014
Any videos of it being used?

Holy shit
>>14320496
Here's a review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qh2eI0bJOU
>>14320465
I see a lot of these strap on things. Are they basically extra bdaman with everything stripped except for the core? Do they fire along with the main bdaman or do you fire them manually? Do they even fire well attached like this?
And I think I've seen pictures of like 3~4 bdman forming some kind of human centipede thing. What the hell is going on in those situations?
>>14320572
Well there are two different types. In the first half of Crash B-Daman, attachments like this plugged onto the side, had entirely separate mechanisms, and were fired independently from the main core of the B-Daman. The second half introduced the "Synchro Weapon System" where-by the attachments hooked onto the trigger mechanism of the B-Daman itself, and the two fired in unison. You could also use those same attachments to unite two B-Daman together and fire a wall of three marbles simultaneously.
As for the other thing, you might be thinking of Ultimate Bahamut or Eclipse Dragon, which in both cases are two different B-Daman combined in a more unique way using specialized parts.
Saw this on the same page I found the last two images. This example is sort of the epitome of bat-shit combinations possible with the system, although if you can believe it there are still one or two accessories that can make this fucking monster go ever further.
You can basically pile so much shit onto your little robots that they become god damn artillery bases.
The recent shows had some pretty good toys too.
I was surprised to learn the second season (eS) was brought over to the US but the episodes were only made available via the app.
>>14320648
Could use a laser sight or three.
>>14303791
Is the anime any good for this? And how exactly is this /m/? Genuinely curious.
>>14327905
Pretty /m/. The adventure Bakugaiden is a straight up wacky sci-fi action show. The other competition series is usually about customization and battles.
They are pretty kiddie though, so your mileage may vary. I found the Bakugaiden a little too wacky last time I watched it.

This youtube channel has all bakugaiden episodes available on the net

It has dubs and subs of various languages, eng-sub is only 3 episodes
