You are implying what exactly? That an artist isn't allowed to change styles or that Nihei's skills have gone down?

I agree though, his earlier art was more atmospheric, stylish and interesting than the current stuff even if his earlier art wasn't as well drawn. Remove the copious use of raster sheets and dark shading and you will notice that some of his earlier art is rather poor. Character designs vary a lot over the expanse of Blame. Proportions on Killy are sometimes really off etc. And sometimes you really can't tell what's going on.

His architectural and mechanical drawing skills have always been extremely good.

Better because Nihei airbrushed some shading onto a line drawing in some digital drawing applications? I'd say the second pic has more detail and probably has taken more effort than the first one. Sure it doesn't have the same sort of feeling, nor should it. It's shot from above, looking down at snow/frost covered landscape etc.

So I've been considering picking up a Tsugumori figure for a while now, absolutely adore the design.

Now, I've built gunpla for a decade, but Koto never rubbed me the right way for quality plamo. There's also a Riobot and Figma version out there, what do you guys think is the best choice?

Or maybe I'll just save for the Chogokin GaoGaiGar Instead.

The Figma is distressingly undetailed and LOOSE JOINTS, the Sentinel/Riobot is ALL THE PARTS FALL OFF, haven't messed with the Koto plamo.

After pulling out my Figma Tsugumori, it's better than I remember. Would recommend over the Sen-ti-nel, unless you can find one for cheap and are only going to pose on display stand and not zoom around the house.
