Back in the 50s and 60s, Japan was today's China. In fact, China's shit is jumping up in quality, so China's more like 1970s Japan.

Shows and movies use liscenced generic sound effect libraries. It's pretty common to watch some anime and think 'there's the door sound from Doom!' but as it turns out that sounds is not originally from Doom.
