It's the usual deal, the ongoing "watch more Dougram" project soldiers onward with another week starting at 1 Eastern, about 2h45m from now.
if you go by taima tv and look for mog-3 on the list that's where we are.

Last week on Dougram we saw the good guys and the bad guys chat about history and stuff and then some really really bad guys showed up to be jerks while the good guys got new playsets and toys.

Dagwon continues the struggle between the team's desire for secrecy and the red one is a fucking idiot.

Having successfully mastered that trick where you grab the sword with both palms the week before, Voltes V faced the dangers of when the kid on the team is a stupid kid and takes part of your giant robot to the model boat race.

Who knows what perils the Earth and beyond will face this week?

Well something that always amazed me is the amount of politics and scheming in Dougram, there's not a lot of mecha action most of the time, not that it's a bad thing, don't get me wrong.

It's often 16-18 minutes of plot and character development, followed by 2-4 minutes of mecha action. Were Japanese kids really interested in that kind of stuff ?

Super and real DO NOT EXIST

But Dougram is an early Gundamish show in lieu of using the R word. They're still working out the kinks on how a show like that sells, I think. It was popular enough to get an extension also, but it does not have a noticeable following today so we don't know if kids liked it or if otaku liked it

I get the impression that it didn't go over that big.
Grabbing that random episode from way into the show and jamming it on the front to reassure people that there was, in fact, a robot called Dougram in this show, doesn't give me the impression the execs thought much of the story being the draw.

You could probably research old Newtypes, TV-kun or whatever mags, stuff like that of its day, look for fanart, what sort of people were drawing it, writing about it, character polls, so forth.

Not great science statistician-ing but it might give a good barometer.

So Dougram is the way it is because they took the core elements of MSG and added their own twist ? Also, I didn't know it got an extension.

If the phrasing is -another extension- that implies there was a first extension. It was probably in the 30s or so that it was extended from 50 to 75 because the span of the 40s doesn't feel at all like they're wrapping up so they must have been told early

neat

>Takahashi was assembling plamodels, and the producers of modelkits told him that they'd be happy if there was another anime with robots coming up (so they could sell their kits).

/m/ as fuck even before making Dougram.

>It would have been no problem if Dougram got another extension.

That would have been great, I'd happily sign for a Dougram Gaiden or stuff like that.
>>
>>14289438
Also, is it me or are Dougram's character a bit more normal than those of most /m/ anime ? Inmean, they do way less dumb shit than, say, your average Macross or Gundam MC.
>>
>>14289505
seems that way
like how Rocky doesn't just go "hey I'm bored let's become terrorists", there's pretty good personal motivation for him

Man, we got a long way ever since back when... whenever that was.

I mean, even I can do infinitely better than that.

so what was up with the ninja suddenly making Dagwon interesting?
>>
>>14293844
In Brave, ninjas always shake things up.

Well, that and Kenichi Araki probably settled into his groove at that point.

This is presuming anything about Dagwon improving aside from Ryu

yeah I'm not getting my hopes up that this will last

At least Voltes is good

I gave all the songs in the Dougram OST names to identify them and I am pretty sure none of them are official
>>
>>14299745
yeah Voltes is about what I hoped for
not quite as much charm as ERIKAAAAAAAAAAAAAA for me, but annoying kid and that bad guy assistant are great
